Archive “I’m late. I’m late. Heechul’s going to…”
He answered his phone. “Hannie ah! Where are you? You were supposed to be here five minutes ago!”
“I’ll be right there!”
“You better be!”
Hankyung hung up the call, quickly placing the phone in his pocket as he rushed towards the dance room. In his haste, he did not pay attention to where he was heading. One second he was rushing to the room, and the next he was rushing to the ground. Then he felt himself being pulled back upright by someone.
“Thank you.” Hankyung said gratefully to the person who saved the food from being spilled all over the ground.
“你没事吧?” Are you alright?
Hankyung raised an eyebrow at the Chinese words.
“I mean, are you alright?” The guy quickly repeated his words as he realised that he had spoken in Mandarin.
Hankyung nodded his head in reply to the question.
“你是中国人吗?” Are you Chinese?
The guy looked shocked that of all the people to bump into in the huge university, he managed to bump into someone who could speak Mandarin. Getting a nod back from the guy, Hankyung got excited. Before he could say anymore, his phone rang again.
Fumbling, Hankyung cringed slightly as he saw the caller-id but still answered. “Hyah! What happened to being here right then?”
“I’m really going to be right there now!”
Hankyung quickly hung up, knowing that he would be paying for it later for hanging up on Heechul. He glanced at the guy next to him, wanting to speak to him more, but fearing the wrath of Heechul even more. Then he decided.
“Are you going off somewhere?” A shake of the head made up Hankyung’s mind.
“Then come with me.”
Hankyung gestured to the guy to follow him and sped off once again. Bewildered, but tempted by meeting someone who understood his language, the guy followed.

“Hankyung! Why did you hang up on me?”
That was the first words that greeted the pair when they arrived at the dance room.
“To get here faster.” Hankyung answered, walking forward to place his things down on the floor as Siwon helped him restrain Heechul.
Hankyung heaved a sigh of relief internally as Heechul seemed to consider the reason and accepted it. Crisis averted.
Heechul’s attention was then drawn towards the other guy hovering near the door.
“Who’s this?”
Not waiting for an answer, Heechul turned towards Hankyung, amusing everyone else in the room.
“Hannie ah, did you pick up another stray again? First Siwon, now this. You’re hanging around Teukie and Jaejoong far too much. Hyah! Leeteuk! Jaejoong! Stop influencing my Hannie!”
Heechul pointed to the two culprits - at least in Heechul’s mind - present.
Ignoring Heechul slightly, Hankyung tried to explain the guy’s presence.
“I bumped into him on my way here. He’s…” Hankyung then turned towards the guy. “What’s your name?”
Kangin burst out laughing. “Heechul, I think you should stop Hankyung from hanging out with Donghae instead.”
“Zhou Mi.”
Getting a reply, Hankyung continued as if Kangin had not said anything. “He’s Zhou Mi. And he’s doing… What are you doing?”
That caused everyone else in the room to laugh.
“Zhou Mi-ge! What are you doing here?”
Siwon’s question stopped Zhou Mi from answering.
Zhou Mi blinked at the equally tall guy which he had missed previously.
“Shi Yuan?”
Siwon bounded up in front of Zhou Mi, pulling him into a hug.
Zhou Mi returned the hug.
“You know him?”
Now Hankyung was confused.
“I met Zhou Mi-ge when I was on exchange a couple of years back. What are you doing here, Hyung?”
“I’m here on an exchange program for the year.”
He received nods from people around the room as Siwon started to introduce him to the rest.
“Zhou Mi? Joomyuk? You shall now be known as Seasoning!” Heechul exclaimed when Zhou Mi was formally introduced to him, igniting a “Hyung!” from Siwon. Zhou Mi shrugged. He had heard all sorts of pronunciation of his name since he arrived two days before. And to be honest, Seasoning was one of the better ones.
As Zhou Mi was introduced to the next person, his eyes widened fractionally before he schooled his expression.
“This is Sungmin-hyung.” Siwon introduced, not noticing the bypass between the two.
Sungmin happily stuck out his hand to be shaken. “I’m Sungmin!”
Catching the drift, Zhou Mi introduced himself as well.
“There are still more in our group. But for right now, there’s only us.”
Zhou Mi nodded, his eyes still lingering slightly on Sungmin. Giving an excuse of heading towards the bathroom, Zhou Mi walked towards the door.
“I’ll show you the way!”
Sungmin exclaimed, pulling Zhou Mi out the door, leaving a bunch of confused people behind.
“Did Sungmin just volunteer to show the way to the bathroom?”
Yunho asked, getting nods from Jaejoong and Kangin.
“But it’s just down the hallway.”
He received shrugs as an answer.

Exiting the room, Sungmin quickly pulled Zhou Mi into the bathroom, locking both of them in the bathroom - not before checking that the bathroom was void of people.
“Zhou Mi! What are you doing here? Aren’t you based in China?”
“I got sent back here.”
“Sent back? Why? Did something happen?”
Sungmin cast a worried look over Zhou Mi. Leaning against the sink, Zhou Mi ran his hand through his hair, the tense lines appearing on his face.
“You weren’t supposed to find out this way.” Zhou Mi sighed before continuing. “It’s chaos there right now. Someone leaked out information and now everyone’s searching for it.”
Sungmin’s face turned serious. “Did you find who did it?”
Zhou Mi nodded. “We shouldn’t be talking about it here. I’m going over tonight. You’ll know then.”
Sungmin contemplated pushing the topic, but gave in.
“Who has it right now?”
Zhou Mi stared at Sungmin. Oh.
“So who’s with you?”
Zhou Mi shook his head.
“No one?” Sungmin questioned incredulously.
“Even I have Shindong when I’m not in danger.”
Sungmin whispered.
“That’s different, young… Sungmin.” Zhou Mi changed at the end with a glare from Sungmin.
A series of knocks came before Sungmin could begin his tirade.
“That’s Shindong.” Zhou Mi said, standing straight. Sungmin shot a look at Zhou Mi, saying that it was not over, before heading to the door.
Opening the door, they saw Shindong leaning casually against the wall.
“You were taking too long.” Shindong explained as his reason for being there.
Sungmin nodded, carefully placing his happy-go-lucky mask back on again as he walked off.
Shindong glanced at Sungmin, before turning to Zhou Mi.
“Whatever it is, I’m glad you’re fine.”
The two exchanged nods, after which Shindong ran to catch up with Sungmin.
Zhou Mi sighed. “That didn’t go well.”
He then picked up his pace to catch up with the two.

“I remember!”
Ryeowook looked up from his food at Henry’s sudden exclamation.
“What?”
“Where I’ve seen the name before!”
Henry looked excitedly at Ryeowook.
“What name?”
“Jaejoong-sshi!”
Ryeowook only got more confused. “What’s with Jaejoong-hyung?”
“He was the winner for last year’s World Piano Competition!”
Ryeowook nodded his head. “He did.”
“I’d love to hear him play. I wonder how my violin would sound like together with him.”
Ryeowook smiled. “You could always ask him.”
Henry looked horrified at that suggestion. “I’m just a first year! He’s much better than me.”
Ryeowook opened his mouth to argue, but Henry shook his head adamantly at that suggestion.
“Fine. One day you’ll ask him.”
Henry nodded. “Let’s eat or we’ll be late.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hankyung and Ryeowook were heading home at the end of the day, together with Donghae and Kibum. Among their group, only Leeteuk and Jaejoong stayed at the dormitory. The rest of them stayed with their families, with the exception of Kangin, Yesung, Yoochun and Heechul who stayed in an apartment near the university. They were joking around until they reached the intersection where the two pairs went separate ways, promising to meet up for lunch the next day.
Entering their house, Hankyung and Ryeowook called out to their mother. “We’re back!”
The two looked puzzled at each other when there was no response, until Hankyung remembered.
“Oh right. She’s at the café today.”
They wandered into the kitchen, Hankyung picking up the plates of food on the table as they passed by it.
Putting those into the microwave, Hankyung turned around to Ryeowook.
“How was your day?”
“It was fine. We had a lecture on composing, and I really want to try that out.”
Hankyung nodded.
“Oh and Henry realised that Jaejoong-hyung won the piano recital last year.”
“Speaking of which, did you know that Henry’s roommate with Kyuhyun?”
“Really?”
Hankyung nodded as he turned to open the microwave door.
“They’re housed in Leeteuk and Jaejoong’s dorm together with another first year.”
Placing the food down in the middle of the table, Hankyung sat down as they began to eat in silence.
“Ge, why do you think Kyuhyun-sshi acted that way yesterday?”
Hankyung looked at Ryeowook. So, he’s still concerned about that. Hankyung was surprised last night when Ryeowook did not mention the event.
Placing his chopsticks down, Hankyung replied. “I don’t know. Maybe you reminded him of something in his past.”
Ryeowook looked down at his food. “It must be something horrible then for him to look as if he met a ghost when he saw me.”
Reaching over, Hankyung patted Ryeowook on the head.
“Don’t think too much about it. I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
Ryeowook nodded, their conversation taking a happier tone.
Neither knew how wrong Hankyung was with his statement.
