Arc I Arc II ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kyuhyun walked around the park, heading towards their dorm. He looked at the familiar sights of the things around him. It had been a long time since he had observed the trees and the flowers that were blossoming. Entering the building, Kyuhyun smiled happily for he was glad to be back there. He opened the door entering. He frowned, wondering why the dorm was so quiet and blank. It was all too white.
Kyuhyun walked into every room there was. It was all empty, except his room where all his things were placed perfectly as he had left it. Panic rising in him, Kyuhyun dashed around the whole apartment, shouting out for his hyungs.
There was absolutely no one around in the house. He was all alone. Only his things were left.
“Hyung! Where are you?” Kyuhyun shouted, panicking.
The dorm now reminded him too much of his house where it was empty with just his things.
“Please Hyung! If it’s a joke, it’s not funny!”
Kyuhyun sunk down to the floor, crying to himself.
“Hyung! Please don’t leave me alone. I know I caused a lot of trouble, but I promise I’ll never do it again. Please don’t leave me alone!”
Kyuhyun cried, knowing that there was no one in the house to hear his pleas, but he did not care. He just hoped that somehow his hyungs would hear him.
“Kyuhyun!”
Yunho dashed to Kyuhyun’s side when the boy started to twist and turn in the blanket. Then Kyuhyun started pleading, asking his hyungs not to leave him alone.
“Kyuhyun! Wake up! No one is leaving you.”
Yunho shook Kyuhyun, trying to get him to wake up from his nightmare.
Suddenly Kyuhyun gasped.
“Kyuhyun!”
His shout had attracted the rest of the members into the living room.
“Kyuhyun, it’s okay. It’s okay.” Yunho gathered Kyuhyun in his arms, trying to soothe the frantically pleading boy.
“Hyung, please don’t leave me. Please don’t.”
“We’re here Kyu. We’re here. Nobody is leaving you.”
But Kyuhyun did not hear Yunho’s nor Changmin’s words.
“Please. I promise I’ll be good. I promise to listen to you. I promise.”
Yunho’s arms tightened around Kyuhyun, knowing that the people he wanted were not him, not even Changmin, but his hyungs from Super Junior.
“Shh… It’s okay Kyuhyun. You’re good. We’re not leaving you.” Yunho tried to comfort Kyuhyun, whispering as he heard Jaejoong telling Changmin to call Kibum.
“I want Teukie-Umma. I want Kibum-hyung. I want Hankyung-hyung…”
“Shh…It’s okay. They’ll be here soon. Don’t cry.”
“They left me. They left. Hyung… I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Don’t leave, please”
Kyuhyun was in an almost catatonic state, not hearing any words that Yunho and Jaejoong were whispering to him. It was not their voices that Kyuhyun wanted to hear. It was not them that Kyuhyun needed. That point was something both of them understood well. All they could hope for was for his hyungs to come as quickly as possible.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kibum, Eeteuk and Hankyung all rushed out of the van and up the stairs to Dong Bang Shin Ki’s dorm, not bothering to wait for the lift or the rest. Hankyung knocked frantically on the door, forgetting that the door bell was just beside the door. He nearly fell forward when the door was jerked opened.
“Come.” That was all Yoochun said as he led them to the living room.
“Kyuhyun!”
All three exclaimed as they saw their youngest being engulfed between Jaejoong and Yunho. And for the first time since they had shaken Kyuhyun awake, Kyuhyun reacted. He stopped a little in his mumbling, as if trying to confirm if it was his hyungs that he heard.
“They’re here, Kyu. They’re here.”
Jaejoong whispered, before giving up his place to Hankyung and Kibum. Eeteuk had already taken over Yunho’s place.
“Kyuhyunnie…”
“Hyung…?”
Kyuhyun tilted his head towards Kibum.
“Kyu, what’s wrong?”
Immediately Kyuhyun wrapped his arms around Kibum.
“Don’t leave me Hyung. Please don’t leave me. I promise I’ll be good. I promise to listen to whatever you say. Please. I promise. Don’t leave me.”
Kibum looked over Kyuhyun at Eeteuk and Hankyung, wondering what triggered this reaction in Kyuhyun. It had been quite a while since Kyuhyun had voiced out such insecurities. It made Kibum wonder if they had not been successful in convincing Kyuhyun that they would not leave him.
“Kyuhyun ah, we’re not leaving you. Shh…” Eeteuk whispered.
“I promise I’ll be good.” Kyuhyun continued pleading to Kibum, refusing to let go of his hyung.
By then, the rest had already clamoured into the apartment and around them. Eunhyuk grabbed hold of Junsu. “What happened?”
Junsu shook his head. “I don’t know. Yunho-hyung suddenly shouted Kyuhyun’s name and when we arrived,” Junsu pointed to him and Yoochun, “Kyuhyun was already mumbling, asking for his hyungs not to leave him. No matter what Yunho-hyung and Jaejoong-hyung said, he continued pleading.”
The two friends then turned their attention back, Kyuhyun still pleading a little, Eeteuk, Kibum and Hankyung trying their best to reassure him.
“Shh…It’s okay Kyuhyun. We’re here. We didn’t leave you.” Hankyung tried, running his hand through Kyuhyun’s hair.
“Really?”
“Yes Hyunnie, we won’t leave you.” Kibum hugged Kyuhyun tightly, as if to show his resolve.
“Really? Not Eeteuk-hyung? Heechul-hyung? Hankyung-hyung? Yesung-hyung? Shindong-hyung? Kangin-hyung? Sungmin-hyung? Donghae-hyung? Eunhyuk-hyung? Siwon-hyung? Ryeowook-hyung?”
Kibum shook his head at every name Kyuhyun threw at him. Each one of them as their names were mentioned stepped forward smiling sadly at the fact that Kyuhyun had so little faith.
“See Kyu, they are all here. None of us is leaving.” Kibum turned Kyuhyun slightly such that he was facing everyone.
Kyuhyun’s eyes swapped over his hyungs one by one, making sure that everyone of them were there.
“You won’t leave me?”
“Hyah, if you say that one more time, we’ll really leave you.” Heechul exclaimed, stomping in front of Kyuhyun. Before giving Kyuhyun - or Kibum for that matter - any time to respond, Heechul pulled Kyuhyun into his arms.
“Don’t ever do that again.” Heechul whispered to Kyuhyun, hugging his dongsaeng tight in his arms. Kyuhyun trembled as he was passed around to everyone of his hyung, with Eeteuk being the last one, partly from exhaustion, and partly from the overwhelming love that he felt from all his hyungs. It was then that Kyuhyun let himself believe in love.
When Kyuhyun woke up next, he saw the familiar colour of his room, heard the familiar sound of his clock ticking away. He sat up on his bed, the aches he felt the previous day disappearing from his body. Lifting his blanket off him, Kyuhyun wandered out his room. The dorm was quiet, exceptionally quiet, just like his dream. Taking in deep breaths, Kyuhyun forced himself to calm down. No, it’s not going to be like your dream. No it’s not. They promised you. And hyungs never broke their promises.
Kyuhyun headed straight for the kitchen, knowing that the highest possibility to find anyone would be the kitchen. He poked his head in, sighing when he caught sight of Hankyung cooking. His sigh was heard by the Chinese man, who turned around, smiling.
“I was just making breakfast. Come, sit.” Hankyung gestured to the chairs.
Kyuhyun nodded, walking towards the chair. He breathed in, smelling the aroma of the food in the air. This is what Hannie-hyung smells like. Kyuhyun smiled, staring at his hyung as Hankyung cooked.
Hankyung turned around when he felt the stare on his back.
“Do I have something on my back?” Hankyung asked, reaching a hand to his back, trying to pull an invisible piece of paper off for Eunhyuk and Donghae had once played a trick on him by sticking a piece of paper on his back. Kyuhyun shook his head, causing Hankyung to tilt his head, wondering why Kyuhyun was staring at him.
But the magnae kept silent.
Hankyung turned back to his cooking, wondering if his band mates were all going to get stranger as time went by. Must be Heechul’s influence. Hankyung shook his head, lacing the food on plates before carrying them to the table.
“Here. Eat up.”
Kyuhyun looked down and saw that Hankyung had cooked Beijing Fried Rice. Scooping a spoon of rice into his mouth, Kyuhyun thought that it was the best thing he had ever eaten.
“Hyung…”
Hankyung looked up from his plate.
Keeping his eyes down at his plate, Kyuhyun spoke.
“It’s the best food I’ve ever eaten.”
Hankyung froze, the spoon dropping from his hand. Did he hear Kyuhyun correctly? Hankyung blinked a few times, only to see Kyuhyun blushing in front of him. A huge wide smile spread out across his face as he realised what the statement meant. Ignoring the chair that fell to the floor as he stood up abruptly, Hankyung almost ran towards Kyuhyun, hugging him from behind.
Kyuhyun blushed when he heard Hankyung’s spoon clutter down onto the plate. He refused to look up, concentrating on finishing the plate of rice in front of him, not even when Hankyung hugged him from behind.
“I’ll cook for you every day from now on.”
Kyuhyun asked to sleep with everyone in the living room that night with Eeteuk giving in to the few requests that Kyuhyun made. He tugged gently at Eeteuk and Kangin, pulling them to the centre of the room, placing himself in the middle of the two. Eeteuk and Kangin exchanged amused glances over the magnae’s head, as Kyuhyun snuggled up against Eeteuk. Instantly, Kyuhyun found the difference between Jaejoong-hyung and Eeteuk-hyung. It was not their size, but simply just the feeling Kyuhyun got from them. Snuggling up against Jaejoong-hyung, Kyuhyun felt safe. Snuggling up against Eeteuk-hyung, Kyuhyun felt like a baby in his mother’s embrace. It felt like family.
Eeteuk almost tensed when Kyuhyun snuggled against up. All by himself! Eeteuk was shocked and overjoyed at Kyuhyun’s action. It was the first time Kyuhyun had sought out for his presence - that was not induced by any nightmare or fear. Eeteuk wrapped his arms around Kyuhyun, whose one hand was clenching onto Kangin’s.
“Hyung, can I still do this next time?” Kyuhyun whispered into Eeteuk’s chest.
Kangin who was stroking Kyuhyun’s hair stopped his actions in mid-air. Kangin looked at Kyuhyun then at Eeteuk. Seeing the shocked look on Eeteuk’s face, Kangin knew that he had not imagined those words. He smiled, knowing in his heart that Kyuhyun was also asking him the same question. He could still remember the time when Kyuhyun avoided his touch after his nightmare. Never did he want to experience that hurt again. By voluntarily seeking him out, Kangin knew that Kyuhyun was healing. Kangin nodded his consent from behind even though Kyuhyun was not able to see it. He still nodded.
Eeteuk looked down, using one hand to lift Kyuhyun’s head off his chest such that he could look at Kyuhyun in the eye.
“You can do this as many times as you want. As many times as you want.”
The tentative smile that formed on Kyuhyun’s face before the youngest buried his head into Eeteuk’s chest again made the tears flowed down Eeteuk’s face. For the first time in months since the accident, it was tears of joy that decorated Eeteuk’s face. His baby was finally healing.
The next few days saw a happier Super Junior for they saw a happier Kyuhyun and an apology from the magazine who first published the story. To be frank, none of them had really expected the father to do as he was told that day, so it did come as a surprise to them when Kibum logged onto the internet one morning to see the apology plastered all over the news. Although they knew that the whole event had yet to blow over, it was at least one step towards normalcy.
Kyuhyun was contented to simply sit in the corner watching his hyungs rehearse the dance for their comeback. The day was drawing closer, and Kyuhyun could feel the excitement tingling within him. He watched in awe at Eunhyuk and Shindong as they choreographed the dance for another of their songs. Kyuhyun could never truly love dancing as much as he loved singing, or as much as Eunhyuk and Shindong loved dancing. But he could feel his body wanting to jump up and join his two hyung in dancing, despite the fact that he knew in no time soon would he be able to attempt those moves.
The two dropped to the floor as they exhausted their creative juices for the day. Eunhyuk looked up when he saw the towel swinging above him.
“Thank you Kyu.” Eunhyuk sat up, grabbing the towel to wipe his sweat.
As Kyuhyun sat down opposite them, Shindong asked as he capped the bottle.
“What do you think?”
Kyuhyun looked at the two, deliberately dragging out the silence.
“Is it that horrible?” Eunhyuk asked when Kyuhyun did not answer.
Slowly a smile spread out on Kyuhyun’s face. “Nope, it’s brilliant.”
Shindong’s mouth dropped open when he realised that the magnae was simply tricking them before.
“Why you… Watch this!”
Shindong pounced on Kyuhyun, tickling him on the sides, making sure that he avoided any places where Kyuhyun might have an injury.
Eunhyuk stared at Kyuhyun and Shindong, happy to see Kyuhyun having fun finally after so long. He deserved it. Kyuhyun had come a long way from the broken figure they found that fateful day. Not a religious person by nature, Eunhyuk still thanked the Lord for letting their precious magnae come back to them.
“Hyung! Help me!”
Eunhyuk smirked as he too joined in to the two on the floor, helping Kyuhyun in getting Shindong to stop his attack. Combined, the two smaller-sized dongsaengs managed to pin Shindong on the floor, though all three were panting hard from the impromptu tickling attack.
“Had fun?” Shindong asked from his position as the two let go of him, choosing to lie on the floor beside him.
Kyuhyun nodded, his face flushed from the exercise. “Hyung…”
Kyuhyun looked at the ceiling. “Can I learn the dance next time?”
Shindong had fun tickling Kyuhyun. It was something they had not done before for Shindong had never found a reason to pounce on Kyuhyun till now. He was glad that the magnae was slowly getting out of his shell, although Shindong doubted that the shyness would completely disappear. Exchanging glances with Eunhyuk, Shindong slowly sat up.
“Only if you can escape from us!”
Without warning, Shindong and Eunhyuk pounced onto an unsuspecting Kyuhyun, re-starting the tickling fight.
As Shindong continued to pin Kyuhyun under him, Shindong smiled, wishing someone had a camera to take a picture of the bright innocent smile that graced his magnae’s face right now.
“Shindong! Eunhyuk! What are you doing to Kyuhyun?”
Uh oh. Shindong looked to the door. It’s Umma.
Looking at Eunhyuk, they gulped.
“Run!”
