Exactly, it's a lion cut! The best part, that I can't seem to capture on film, is that the groomer left him CHEST HAIR, down below his mane! It looks hilarious. Y'know, aside from the feet and tail tufts.
This cut was a lifesaver with Fred. He honestly can't look after all the crazy fur he has, and he used to drool too, which would leave huge mats of fur around his face. Oh, and he's an indoor/outdoor cat! So when we lived in the country, he'd also get into burrs and things! Now that he's a city cat the outdoor factor isn't so huge, but it's still a relief to get rid of the dirty fur once a year. I can't brush him for more than a minute at a time before he takes offense to the brush and attacks it (and my hand).
And yeah, he yowls at me a bit, but no more than usual :D I figure loud cats are just expressing their opinions!
Hee, yes, he is happy! He can't look after his own fur when it's long - notice how he's three times bigger with fur? So he's less stressed and can clean himself just fine when he's shaved.
I love him like this - he makes me laugh ALL the time! The first time he got this cut, though, the groomer warned us not to laugh at him, cause he'd be able to tell and would get upset. That was, like, 8 years ago now, but I still make a point of not laughing the day of... after that, he's fair game!

*falls on floor laughing hysterically!!!*
You're poor kitty. Though, if he seems happier, I guess that's what matters. :)
