I agree - take out some of the white. It's distracting. Otherwise the image is quite eye-catching.

I think your problem is the background color. I'm not sure what I'd do to change it, but you should experiment with it, I think. Good-old black could serve well here.

The white needs a touch of texture and shading, it will give it a rougher torn look.
