My parents moving on...

I spoke with my parents this morning. After their 3 month stay in Florida this winter they've decided that they are going to sell their house in Massachusetts and set up permantly down South. I'm somewhat surprised by this, but I'm not really sad about it. My brother and I have been recommending that they do something like this for years as ( Read more... )

My family has owned the house for 120 years. We have 3 generations worth of crap in that house.

Sounds like my grandparents' house. My father's family had lived there for many generations. When my grandmother was forced to sell it, most of the contents got moved to my parents' house & to a storage facility in the next town over from my parents' place.

Wow.

I remember being there about ten years ago, and really liking it.

I'm overly sentimental about things, or at least I used to be. When I moved, I drew a line in the sand and do not regret it one bit. Like psychowoof, I dread the day I have to go through some of my parents' stuff - in some cases, it's really packed to the gills beyond belief.

But 1639. Again, wow. Although they're not as much a media presence as they once were, I wonder if the "This Old House" people at WGBH would be interested in a place like that.
