Well, mine was phenomenal! Excellent company and the most amazing cake anyone could ever have. Of course, I quibble with the designation "white cake"** *evil grin*, but other than that I agree in full.

**Baking Illustrated, which I fully brag was one of my better present ideas to vettecat, does indeed call it a white cake, but as it has 2 parts almond and 1 part Vanilla, I'd call it an Almond cake. Note: this is NOT bad, but to me Almond is a dominant flavoring - I don't know why, but when I taste it in something the flavor often tends to assert itself over others. Then again, that just made it a fun point to argue (almond cake or white cake)

Sounds like fun! Spontaneous vacations can be such a treat. *Grin* But I'm not entering the almond/white cake debate, since I suppose pointing out that it usually depends on whether you use the yolk or not is a tactic you already tried on your husband. *Grin*

Umm, when I said "it usually depends..." I meant that that was what was necessary to designate something a white cake. I can't really argue that almond flavor is probably what's necessary to designate something an almond cake.

Hmm, I think I'm getting pedantic. Must be because I'm about to go teach...*grin*

Actually it is made with just the egg whites... I hadn't thought about that part. :-)
