Fun fact: driving

I hate driving.  No, really.  There are several reasons (which range from holy-fuck-there's-two-tons-of-metal-coming-at-me-at-50mph to the nightmares I had as a child) for this, and the end result is that I don't actually have a license yet.  I'm working on it, though.  I've been driving on a regular basis for a few months and will probably take my ( Read more... )

That's totally legit. No-one ever feels bad about birds, I think. I mean, they have wings. Darwin Award for hanging around roads and getting wind-shielded.

And driving gets easier with time, I promise. I've had my license for almost exactly six years now (shit, I'm old) and the first few years are always Oh-God-I'll-kill-myself-and-this-lovely-tree but eventually it becomes automatic. These days I do some of my best plotting while driving, no more nervous. You'll get there, too.

And screw the birds.

:-D

It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this. I mean, I fully intend to get a bumper sticker along the lines of "I brake for animals" (if I can, I will get one that specifically says mammals), but birds? Seriously, fuck birds. There's always that one, in any flock, that doesn't move until the verylastsecond and you're like, 'well shit' and then he opens his wings and zooom!

The ones that actually GET HIT...bad genes.
