My Chinese name means Thousand Jasmines. :) ♥ That sounds so awesome! And wow, the world is small small small. I'm glad that despite all the crappy stuff that happened, so much kickin' rad adventure went on. ♥
Chien means Thousand Jasmines? Or is your Chinese name different? (your names confuse me) But that's so awesome! I love Jasmine, I was captivated by it in India where they gave us Jasmine garlands. I sniffed my constantly and laid on on my clothes and bed to try and get everything to smell like Jasmine. I have Jasmine scented oil, and Jasmine tea is my favorite. I keep being tempted to get some fresh Jasmine flowers and chai and just throw them all over everything to make my room smell like the good parts of India. :D Could you show me your Chinese name? Chinese characters are so pretty, English is so lame.
What can I say, everywhere I am there's a kickin rad adventure goin' on. ;)
Chien Li means a Thousand Jasmines. ♥ My second name (the one I'm meant to have-- but then out comes Chien and look she's female! NO COOL NAME FOR HER-- was Chien Ein, which means a Thousand Silver Coins). Chien just means "Thousand." I don't really associate with flowers or coins, so I'm fine with the number. A lot of people think it's really weird since when picking a nickname, Chinese people use the second word-- not the first one. But I use the first one, and it's not even "correct." ♥
But yeah, jasmine is a beautiful fragrance. It's so wonderful. XD You should grow some! They're pretty flowers too. And yes, I can write my name for you, but my Chinese handwriting isn't the best.
Chinatown in Toronto is the best Chinatown (on the East Coast), with NYC Chinatown a close second. The kicker is that TO has Pacific Mall, which is an amazing and wonderful place. And Tony Leung shopped there once.
You seem to have bad NYC luck. I feel bad, because I have a lot of fun every time I go there. Even the time I got lost in the Red Hook Proj in (bigups to...) BK and had food poisoning, there was still JammyLand Records, an amazing Slackers show, and a free golf bag that I garbage picked up in Westchester. I don't know what it is, but I feel sorry that you get the rough end when you go there, because to me its always been such a great place...

Your red-headed-Alex story reminds me of when I ran into my friend Robyn on the tube platform at Leicester Sq Station in London.
"Jill!?!?"
"Robyn!??"
I <3 big cities.
