How Books are Like Lovers.

I've been thinking about writing books, and the relationships you form with your projects ( Read more... )

When you ask a writer which book she loves best of the ones she's written, the answer is almost always "the one I'm writing now." Of course, I know you're not writing ATB now or NW, but the point being we have to love what we're currently writing more than anything we've ever written in order to put forth the effort to keep writing it every day!

So true. I also hold to the statement that I love ATB b/c I haven't had to EDIT it :p

Makes sense to me! I've been falling in love with a new WIP and feeling guilty, like I'm cheating on Garolass while it's on subs. Like picking a favorite child or something. But it's totally different and at a different stage in the process and should be appreciated as such.

I'm glad it makes sense. I felt like I was cheating on NW with ATB, and then I finished ATB, and suddenly instead of having two projects in different stages of completion I had two projects both with "The End" tacked on, and I started to compare before I caught myself. Each book is totally different, and totally it's own thing, and I love them both, just in very, very different ways.

Haha so glad it makes sense to other people. I needed to write it for my own process, and then decided to share it, but thought "V, is this really the most coherent thing? I don't think so." And yet here it is :p
