Nara sits on the balcony, wrapped in a blanket. She has a cup of tea, which she's trying to warm her hands around, and she's been reading a book she found in the study ( Read more... )

Concentrating hard, Zhilbar began to teleport over; Sam had a very tricky teleport encryption that was tough to manage, but He wasn't considered the sneakiest shifter in ten thousand realities for nothing!

Staggering an arrival at the balcony she liked so much, He stared at her... so different! So Ora still! So... cold! "My dear, are you all right!?" He rushed over to her and clasped His hands around her own as they held the teacup, trying to warm her as best He could with His own inner heat. "Let's get you someplace less chilled!"

"Hmm... perhaps if I simply tried direct contact, it might help a little.

"...

"Might I hug you, then?" The sweet ache of her like this... He wished to do all He could to make her better. It cut His soul as whips of fire to be around her like this, but He would help as best He could and she would accept.

She hesitates. For a long moment -- but the familiarity of him wins out over her caution, and she nods, holding her arms out to him.

Moving up to her, He wraps His arms around her tightly, eyes shut as He enfolds her in His gentle persistent warmth. A tear drips unnoticed from His eye to fall and shatter upon the balcony; dragons weep diamonds, after all. Sweet agony it was to hold her, yet He wouldn't give it up for the world...

The familiarity of his embrace is reassuring. This is something she should remember, she thinks tiredly, and she will, sooner or later. Her memories will return, and it will be all right. At least, that's what she's hoping.

His warmth does very little for Nara's chill; the cold is a side-effect of losing her power, and there's little can be done except wait for it to go away.

He held her close, unwilling to give her up a moment sooner than He had to, just in case He wouldn't get the opportunity again for some reason. He could feel how His warmth, His power, seemed almost unable to touch her, as if there was some kind of intangible wall where the limits of her strength used to be. But every little bit helps, and He did not quit trying...

He stroked her hair a little, thinking that she would remember, that it would all come back to her eventually... and this time she might even be with Him too, that it wouldn't all be nothing but fantasy and dust on the wind. Even in the caverns of His own little fantasy, He suspected it was a fool's dream, and several more light tinkling crashes joined the first.
