Oh, clear outs are therapeutic but I find them so hard - I'm quite a hoarder. Nesting chuck-out instinct was a blessing and I tried to take advantage of it.
I might be interested in rehoming some of your pattern books, although not at the expense of a library that's keen to take them.
Good luck with the cull. I hope M can sort out his stuff soon and thoroughly so that you can move on without being surrounded by it all in your space.
I still have the knitting pattern books, haven't brought myself to cull those yet, despite my good intentions. There have been lots of other priorities in the last couple of months and still are, but I haven't forgotten you!
Have given about 20 boxes of books and a couple of boxes of CDs to the Altona and Williamstown libraries since the cull started. So I'm feeling pretty good about those donations and happy to send some books elsewhere.
What sorts of things do you like to knit?
I have lots of sock pattern books and would probably give up, um, about half of them without too much of a struggle. Not at home right now but from memory some of the other books that I could give up include Victorian Lace Today, a couple of books about felting, Folk Bags ... oh dear I am sure I can be more ruthless than that.
You may remember in the distant past you gave me your old vinyl couch and armchairs with hand knitted rugs to cover up the cracks in the vinyl. I'm finally going to get rid of them as I need the space. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like them back but I thought you might want one or more of the knitted rugs that IIRC your mum made.
Oh dear, just uncovered this comment notification from the depths of the Inbox ...
I remember the vinyl couch but not the rugs. If this is still an issue and you're hanging on to the rugs, feel free to let them go. I probably wouldn't have given them to you if they had strong sentimental value, and I have lots of rugs from Mum already. ;)
Mum often knits rugs and gives them away to charity. You could drop them in a charity bin, or if they're fairly tatty, give them to an animal shelter?
