4th Con [Video]

Sep 25, 2011 02:58

[For once, the PCD turns on when 'Kenneth' intended it to. When he does, he's leaning back against the couch in his house and looking more serious than the times people have talked to him over the network.]

I generally don't do this kind of thing, but all this lying is starting to get to me for some reason. My name's not Kenneth Crane, and I'm not a ( Read more... )

Due to paranoia, mostly, yes. I lied about my name and job.

[Shrugs a shoulder.]

-=There's a soft growl from him, and then he closes the PCD. He'll remember this, whoever you are.=-

[Stares at the PCD for a bit before shrugging. And he totally said who he was; who he really was this time.]

[Stupid event. :x]

And we may take you at your word now that you are an admitted liar? Where is the sense in that?

[Usually understanding Juliet is not happy today.]

No sense to the rest of everyone, except knowing the truth now. This really was all to ease some sort of guilt that started weighing down on me. Normally I wouldn't say anything until it was necessary, but due to the event...

[Shrugs. He realizes it's the event, but he just. can't. stop himself. It sucks.]

Event? You would blame your attack of conscience on the Animus? Indeed, sir, you prove yourself even less worthy of trust. Only a coward would lay the blame elsewhere.

[He's... actually not getting riled from Juliet's new temper. Despite what was said, he's... pretty chill.]

I'm not saying the event brought about the guilt, but the acting on it. Normally I'd just bear with it like everything else. That's how it works though; these events make people do things. Like how you're acting like your cousin.

Thing is... I never asked for anyone's trust. I'm just stuck with this honesty thing. Most likely you can ask me anything this week and I'll answer truthfully.

[And he hates the event for this. Eliot recognizes the change, and knows he won't do anything about it.]

Has your entirely life been nothing but lies?

Not my entire life, no. You go into service prepared to sacrifice anything and everything you have, including your very identity and life. I wasn't much older than you when I had to put in that sort of commitment.

[You asked, Draco. The event answered.]

It depends on the job. Sometimes it's the point in a job where you gotta know how to get in and out of a secured place to get someone, or something, out with you. In a team, I usually act as the Inside Man, that way I can get other teammates out if a con goes wrong.

[At least someone's accepted that it's just a name and nothing important he's lied about.]

I can actually handle myself. It's the paranoia, for many different reasons, that it's important to buy time to plan by going around with an alias. If someone showed up and asked for me, those that I know wouldn't be able to show they had a connection to me. That means it takes longer for the enemy to realize I'm around, and they don't know there's anyone connected to me to use as bait.

That it is.

[Exactly his point. Out of everything, titles are nothing.]

You won't have to be suspicious of everyone and everything, Nepeta. Telling me is a good move, but if it does happen, don't be too quick to dismiss their questions. Act like it really was the name of a person you never heard of before.
