★ Taemin wonders why Jonghyun stopped walking him home everyday.

Taemin was waiting by the school gate, a brand new jacket on his shoulders, feeling more confident than ever before. He was standing on the tip of his toes, looking above the small crowd of students to spot the one he was searching for.

After some long minutes spent on waiting aimlessly for someone who never showed up, Taemin turned on his feet as he sighed in defeat. He didn't know where Jonghyun had gone again and he wasn't feeling like running around the town in search for his lost friend.

He quickly took his cellphone out of his pocket and checked his inbox in hope that Jonghyun's name would be written on the small screen. Taemin smirked sadly when he saw that the three last messages were from another one of his friends.

The young brown-haired boy walked home. The heels of his shoes tapped hard against the sidewalk, making neat footprints in the thin layer of snow covering the concrete.

Taemin was used to these situations. Jonghyun always forgot about him when it was time for them to reunite and spend some time together. They had been friends for such a long while and Taemin could barely believe that their relationship meant nothing to Jonghyun anymore.

----

Once in his house, Taemin laid on his bed on his back, his arms were stretched out above his face and his cellphone was held by both of his hands. He was typing a message, but erased it after some time. Questions were flashing in his mind. He was wondering if Jonghyun would remember him if he texted, maybe the other boy hadn't put Taemin's number in the contact list on his new cellphone.

Taemin's homeworks were undone on the top of his desk. The young boy was too preoccupied by deciding whether or not he had to call Jonghyun.

Maybe it was because Taemin's feelings were one-sided; Jonghyun was seeing someone else, someone better. But even so, Taemin wanted to have his childhood friend back. The one who protected him from the bullies, the one who climbed up a tree to retrieve a lost stuffed puppy and, above all, the one he liked so much.

Taemin sighed and got out of his bed, walking to his homeworks in order to busy his mind with something else than Jonghyun's face.

----

On the next day, Taemin was standing at the same place. He was waiting for a certain person to come out of school and notice his presence. However, when he finally caught a glimpse of Jonghyun, the older boy ran off in the opposite direction.

Taemin was startled, his mouth open as if he was about to scream something. Checking his inbox again, he still didn't see Jonghyun's name. He bit his lips to restrain himself from crying. Taemin was about to turn on his heels and walk back home like any other day when his face became serious. Instead of stepping forward and making his way to his house, he followed Jonghyun to wherever he was going.

He ran in hope he'd be able to guess which way Jonghyun had chosen. When he saw the older boy sitting on a chair in a café, he immediately entered the place without a second thought.

He stood in front of Jonghyun, looking directly into the other boy's eyes. For a second, he felt scared that Jonghyun would ask 'who are you?' But it didn't happen and Jonghyun smiled happily while waving his hand to greet him.

"Stupid!" Taemin said loudly.

Jonghyun flinched, letting his hand fall to his side. He raised an eyebrow at his younger friend.

"Where were you?" Taemin continued with a lower voice. "I've been waiting forever!"

"Did we have something planned?"

Taemin glared at Jonghyun with all the anger he could muster up at that moment. Luckily, there weren't many customers. There was only a confused cashier trying her best to ignore the conversation.

"We have walked back home together for years. Why have you stopped?!" Taemin's eyes glittered with fresh tears as he scowled.

"I thought..."

"Is it because I'm too talkative?" Taemin asked, halfway between a scream and a whisper. "Or do I have to call you hyung?"

"Taeminie-" Jonghyun scratched the back of his head. Taemin continued to question him.

"Is it because I easily get jealous?" The brown-haired boy calmed down a bit, focusing on keeping his tears from rolling down his cheeks. "Am I too childish?"

Jonghyun shook his head and smirked, reaching his hand out. "Taemin,"

His attempts at showing affection and care didn't work; He was wholeheartedly ignored.

"Is it my height? Am I too short?" Taemin gasped as he felt salty water on his face. "It's my body isn't it? I'm not sexy enough for you, right? Or it's because I don't have my natural hair color?"

Taemin fell on the chair in front of Jonghyun. "Is it because I'm too emotional?" He gulped down. "Tell me what it is. I can change anything."

"Taeminie." Jonghyun placed his hand on his younger friend's. "Calm down. Geez, what made you think I don't like you?"

"You didn't call me for days," Taemin murmured. "You've been ignoring me too."

Jonghyun flinched and leaned back against his chair. "I wasn't ignoring you," He confirmed with a funny voice. "Damn, if I knew you felt neglected I would have done something,"

Taemin pouted, feeling unneeded. He preferred to stay silent while his eyes itched painfully, trying to keep the tears inside. Maybe he was too emotional.

"Taeminie...I never thought going back home together was so important to you." Jonghyun clarified. "I thought, since you made so many new friends, that you wouldn't need me anymore,"

The younger boy gasped. "You can't just assume that!"

"I'm sorry?" Jonghyun tried flashing an apologetic smile. "I mean, what about that Minho guy? He went home with us a few weeks ago,"

"He was there for a project!"

"But he's your friend now, isn't he?" Jonghyun questioned, raising an eyebrow at Taemin's sudden outburst of anger. "I figured you didn't need your mentor anymore,"

Taemin frowned; glared; bit his lips, everything that could make him look angry. "You're not my mentor. You're my childhood crush,"

Jonghyun jumped lightly at these words. He only managed to squeak out an interrogative sound, his eyes wider than Taemin had ever seen before. The cashier had disappeared at that point. She had probably left them so they could have more privacy.

"You heard right," Taemin mumbled, looking down. "I'm sorry..."

The older boy cleared his throat. "Why would you- why would you be sorry about that?" He avoided looking at Taemin, a blush making its way to his cheeks as the new information sunk in. "I mean, it's nothing to be ashamed of."

Taemin gave as small smirk. "I'm still sorry. For yelling and stuff,"

Jonghyun coughed again. "It's okay,"

After sniffling a little, the younger boy got up, hiding his eyes behind his bangs. "I guess, I should go now,"

A ray of sunshine made the remaining tears in Taemin's eyes sparkle. Jonghyun couldn't help but stand up abruptly, as if his body was instinctively willing to follow Taemin. The brown-haired boy turned around with a sad expression, teeth gritting against each other to keep all his emotions in.

"I'll think about it," Jonghyun exclaimed. "I- I like you and I'll think about it."

Taemin's smile had never been so small yet so bright.

Sorry for the ending, I didn't know what else to write...

So yeah, it's based on a song I listened to only once because the voice was annoying (in my opinion) but the concept was cute.

I've been trying to write a hyunmin fic in the past few months, but everything turned out too cheesy or plain weird. This here is the one I liked most!

(Though it's still very cheesy, sorry about that!)
