Amy's Choice

That was good, but it could have been amazing.

I love the concept. It's clever and thought through and the kind of thing that has your head spinning through it all for weeks afterwards. And the beginning and end bits rocked too. I could totally believe Amy and Rory's future, and the Doctor played off them really well, very 'Doctor'. And Amy's decision to die in the future world was heartfelt and again believable.

I love the fact that Amy, Doctor, Rory relationship doesn't play like Amy is choosing between them, even though that's what the episode is about. Rory has a bit of jealousy but rather than sitting in the corner and sulking he says it, therefore giving Amy a chance to re-assure him. (And giving oppurtunity to see him hit old ladies with cricket bats... which was more amusing and less disturbing than it sounds when it's typed...) And the Doctor doesn't seem 'jealous' of Rory either, the way it played with Rose and Mickey. Plus loving Amy seeming to have the upper hand.

And more eye's. Seeing a recurring theme here, and one I like very much. Where are we headed Mr Moffat?? What are we supposed to see?

But I think the ep. would have played better without the exposition guy. If the Doctor had had to work it out all by himself. I didn't feel the tension rising and it all seemed to end too quickly and easily. And the dream guy being the Doctor was too cheesy even for Doctor Who! Maybe it would have suited a 2-parter instead?

Didn't mind Amy being isolated this time so much, as it didn't seem to be as forced, although she didn't do much this time round, which was a little disappointing.

Having said that I like the relationship with Rory I am getting a bit bored of him now. Kind of feel like it's time for him to go home, we got to explore more of Amy's character than the 'ack I'm getting married in... a morning...' when he wasn't around, which appealed more.

I liked the Doctor more in this ep, he was less dismissive than the last few weeks, but like I said, it had lots more potential.
