The inhabitants of the Temple were all assembled in the Dining Hall. It was a large room with high ceilings, warmed by the fire in the fireplace opposite the main entrance and several smaller braziers scattered between the tables. The three large tables, normally set side by side, had been pushed against the walls to clear a space at the center of

Though her wound was clean it still hurt, which was not precisely how she had expected things to go. The reason these people had summoned she and all these others was becoming all the more clear. Was magic such a rarity here, or just that which she was used to ( ... )

"Den fuh now joo should rest and heal. I be quite used to doin' recon in hostile areas. I'll keep joo in da loop." He didn't like sidelining her just after offering an alliance with her, but he could see little choice. Sans an eye and a wing, there wasn't much she could do at the moment. While Kevas was indeed covered with blood, much of it wasn't his and most of the wounds he had sustained were nothing more than a dull throb now thanks to his regeneration.
Unfortunately, Kevas has yet to realize that all of his abilities haven been taken from him just as his weapons have. That was bound to make things more difficult.

She sighs softly, but nods. "Be assured that I take no offense and that I appreciate your help," she says softly, even if the sidelining stings much like it always had. This time it was due to her injuries, however, and she pushed herself to take this into account. He was not turning away her aide because she was malformed or too small. Simply because she was hurt.
Self-image issues? Oh, you betcha, in spades. :> But even suicidal she wants it to count for something so she won't try to off herself senselessly or anything.
She glances around the Hall and would be frowning if she had lips to do so. "Should we make a point of meeting somewhere?" Because none of them have their communicators as of yet and she won't know wtf to do with hers right away, anyway.

She wasn't the only one with image issue. Kevas was sure that out of all the "monsters" in this room, he was the only one in this room that truly fit that description and that wasn't just because of the two tusks that were jutting out of his mouth.
Kevas nodded, "Dat be a good idea." Unfortunately Kevas was drawing a blank on just where they would meet. They just got here, and this is the only location that either of them knew about which meant that this was the only place they could meet at. The idea didn't sit well with him because a) the reception here wasn't exactly what one would call warm and b) Kevas didn't like temples. It didn't seem as they had much choice in the matter though.
"If we be needin' to meet let's do it behind da temple fuh now, at least until we find a bettah location." Kevas kept his voice low that only she could hear it.

"Ain't seen nothin' like you before."
Lucas is still smiling. She's probably the most interesting thing he's seen in weeks.

Was he a hawk-brother? She had minor encounters with they that would be known as the Tayledras in the future years of Valdemar, the men (and women) with bond-birds that lived in the depths of the Pelagirs.
She is so shocked at his appearance that it takes a moment for his words to sink in. When they do, though, her posture relaxes and she looks .. well .. dejected. "Heyla," she greets the stranger, once more annoyed that the bandage has blinded her on the left side. "It seems that very few have, actually .."
However, this man is smiling and that in and above itself is a rise above the others she has encountered already. She shifts and approaches him, careful not to get too close. She has no way of knowing if ( ... )

"Ow!" Lucas turns to Red. "What all's gotten into ya, Red? C'mon, now."
He chuckles a bit and looks back up at her, still smiling. "Sorry 'bout that. He's been actin' up since we got here. Normally real friendly. But hey, good t'hear 'm some kinda comfort, though. Probably don't feel too good gettin' hurt when you're away from home, yeah?"
He leans over and looks at the bandage a bit. "They do good patchin' ya up?"

"Yeah, I know how to heal a li'l bit with magic, lemme see..."
It became suddenly apparent that the thing everyone was panicking about was true. Lucas was without his magic. Granted, he could get by without it, he used it far less than others, but still, it was cause for concern. Lucas really couldn't fight as well as normal without it. He frowns.
"Well, looks like I ain't doin' that right now. Huh. Sorry, hun."
He laughs as she comments on his calm demeanor. "Yeah, well, ain't nothin' I can do 'bout it, right? They brought us here t'help, 'm guessin' they send us back when we do. Complainin' ain't gonna get me home."
He instinctively holds his hand out for a handshake before realizing that she doesn't exactly have a hand to return the gesture. He moves the hand back. "'m Lucas. Nice t'meet ya."

Red looked less than impressed. He could do...hawk...things.
Lucas nods and softly smiles. "Bein' all down 'bout things never got nothin' done. Gotta do what ya gotta do, right?"

Her posture relaxes as he speaks and she nods her beak once. Her expression is wry, though this doesn't mean she's at all okay with how they were received upon arrival. "It would appear we have little option but to make the best of what we've been given," she agrees.
