Obviously I have no experience with this particular company (I've done two 10Ks in my life before and that was it - neither were great experiences and the second flatly put me off running in races completely) but what you described sounds very much like that second run. Bad organisation and planning, too many people too mixed up and messy ... for me it was a total turn-off and I figured if I wanted to run, I'd go do it on my own because why pay money to put up with so much crap?

It's been interesting to hear your experiences, though, to learn how things are done elsewhere. I see that there are badly-planned races as well, but it also seems that more experienced organisers understand how to make things run smoothly. Which is encouraging to know!

Also, it seems ridiculous to schedule a sporting event at the same time as the Olympics because seriously, why bother competing with the attention that draws? I find that really weird.
