This is wonderful!

For dreams that suited her better than reality, because Jack is not so formidable now with hollowed cheeks and shadowed eyes.

This made me so sad for Jack...and she feels even worse now that she sees what she's done to him--that he's not the invulnerable Captain Jack. The reality vs. the dream of him; the reality is that he's just a man, and capable of being hurt.

How strange it is to care so much that they now hold nothing at all.

Ouch. Love that, though. Very poignant. Glad I could help spark some drabblage!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I absolutely cannot wait for this movie. It's hard to write speculation fic when AWE reality looms so near ahead.

I love this. I simply cannot wait to see how they handle their meeting again in the movie, but something like this would be perfect!

Me too!! I am fairly unspoiled (trailers & official promotional material only), but what I have seen has me so excited for the movie.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

Short and sweet and beautiful, especially this line:

"This land is strange; the shifting sands and flat air set her skin crawling. She longs for home, of feeling sure of the world and her place within it."

Thank you! I imagine that Lizzie (like many of us) long for the familiar comforts of home when things in our lives get dark and twisty (a little Mer. Grey love there *g*)
