Good grief. And I suppose the thing about keeping a puppy was verbal rather than written. (If it was in writing or otherwise recorded you could prove it in court.)

Do you have a copy of the lease? Take a good close look at it and see what it says in there about pets.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm working on getting food stamps, too. The card is very shiny.

Read the lease, just to make sure, especially if she gave you a verbal ok on it just to get you and your roommate in there.
Don't think you have failed or you are less of a person for applying for food stamps. You need the help, and the program is there to help you get back on your feet. For crying out loud, you are a college student, and are trying to better yourself.
Contact the court and explain to them you do not live in the county anymore since-----. That should get you out of it hopefully.

Yeah. About that jury duty thing. If you don't tell government agencies specifically that you don't live in a certain county anymore they will assume you're still a resident. Even if your mailing address is obviously *not* in the county. (Bureaucracy are stupid. That's why innovation stopped dead in China after they adopted one as the basis of their government.)
