I love oddities !

All his life, White remained a wonderful eccentric; in Alderney he used to surprise his guests when, wearing a scarlet toweling dressing-gown like a monk’s habit, he welcomed them to this brightly red-painted kitchen, or when he gave them a meal each day in a different room so as to leave the washing-up behind or when he told them that he had only ( Read more... )

I like him too !
That more the stories about his youth, his relationships with his lovers, his dogs... what a wonderful man !
(Yes he would really been a good model for Dumbledore, to all extends !)

Well, the Dumby's model thing would make sense, you know, because White identify himself with Merlyn (his Merlyn, as a pedagogue, a scholar, and also an excentric), and we all know that Dumby is an avatar of Merlyn... So... ^^

Where do you find these smileys, by the way!?

Oh, oh! I forget!
Homosexuality!
Yes, White is definitely the model of Dumbledore!

Personally I first thought about the homosexuality before Merlin - maybe because I didn't have to think about Merlin: that was obvious !

Your citation made the oddities the first link between them, it was so obvious that I didn't mention it. For that was understood by everybody. Then the point about high level study and scholarship was also obvious, so I didn't mention it as well. Finally I thought of the homosexuality, and I thought yes, he would be a very good model for Dumbledore to all extends ! But in my first comment I didn't precise anything, simply because I thought that all that was also obvious for you, that we both understood the same and so that we didn't need to express it, our spirits being linked. (Eventually it seems that there have been a small problem of communication between your spirit and mine, but it doesn't matter !)
About Hadrien ? I'm even no more surprise ! This man - and his house - ought to be an oddity himself !

Yeah, yeah, I know, darling, I understand you well enough, and you're right: some of these facts are just obvious. But still, I wanted to list them, and so I did!

And now, I've found something else: "Physically, he was very impressive and good looking with hit white hair and beard and his brilliant blue eyes"

God damn it! "Brilliant blue eyes"?!!!!

And the point about Merlyn is not only because of his high level study, it's going further than that, to a real identification.
You know Tolkien was known to have said "I am a hobbit", in the same way, White WAS Merlyn.
You'll notice that Tolkien was very modest, because he didn't say "I am Gandalf"...!
