Starting tonight, I'll be setting up an author index in the memories. If you're a reader, it'll be easier for you to see what else your favorite author has written or to find the first few chapters of a multi-part fic you'd like to read. If you're an author, readers will be able to find your older stories with ease

Actually I also thought about organising the memories but by pairing/character/rating. *looks around*

I didn't think of that at all, but things should work out fine with the author system. It's relatively easy to browse the community for a certain pairing or rating because so much stuff is being written, and there are lots of other archives that do group in those ways.

Going back through the community to find the first chapter of a fic is difficult, though, because there's just so much - I figured this system would make things a lot more convenient for people.

Really? That's so not my impression. I almost missed some good fics that aren't L/V because of the tons of L/V fics that are posted every day. And didn't you just admit that there is, I quote, "just so much".

Look, I'm not entirely sure what kind of response you wanted from me, so I did the best I could to explain my reasoning. In my personal experience, I have had more trouble tracking down things by author and story than I have had in finding fics about different ships, so I got the go-ahead for this system from Juliet and started putting it into action. This doesn't need to be an issue - I'm sorry my comment bothered you, but I wasn't sure what to say and did the best I could at the time.

Having an author index, by the way, doesn't mean the community can't organize in other ways as well - this is just the method that interested me most and the one that I feel comfortable doing.
