It's amazing what a three day weekend does to your brain

After watching the White Collar marathon (I like Elizabeth, but I can't say the show is better when she's there), the River Monsters marathon (the unhooked eps are the best - "As we were filming this scene, tiny fish were nibbling at my feet") and now the Destination: Truth marathon (they never find anything but Josh Gates is just too cute for ( Read more... )

Uh, oh - *eyes deceptively innocent looking Maddy asleep on the couch* - that sounds ominous. Our first go 'round was quite the experience, though she recovered much more quickly than I did. She seemed unfazed once we were back home, thank God. I needed a drink ;).

Chain mail might be your best bet.

Do they sell chain mail at Macy's? *ponder* I have a coupon!

Regarding number 1, I totally feel your pain. If I get up to use the facilities any time after four, the boys automatically think that means they get treats. If I attempt to go back to bed without giving them treats, biting WILL occur. Feeding them treats at 4 does allow me to go back to sleep unmolested...as long as I provide them again when I awake.

With regard to #5, even as I type this Sasha is sitting beside me desperately trying to lay in front of the keyboard. I have had some partial success in pushing him to the side, but he ALWAYS wiggles his way back in. *sigh*

But then again, what would I do without them? Heh.

And yeah for your writing!

Hee! It's amazing how trainable we are, isn't it? It cracks me up, how easily we fell into a routine. I'm going to be gone a lot this month and I'm sure I'll feel the separation far more keenly than she will. I may complain about the head-dancing thing, but you know I'm gonna miss it!

Thankfully, she does love a cuddle, and the chair I use to watch tv and write in is wide enough for the two of us to sit side by side. She'll settle in there after a few minutes of adoration and promptly fall asleep. Such a cutie - I'm so lucky! Gotta work on the vet thing, though :).

The first time away is always rough; you're never sure how they'll react once you're home again. Just be prepared for anything from clinging to avoidance and know that it will subside shortly. They just need to let you know how they feel. Let us know how it goes.

Well, we know *I'll* be clingy, Maddie is another matter ;).

Hey, I'm sorry I missed the Great Seattle Visit but it sure sounds like you had a great time. I hope you'll consider visiting again, because there's still a lot left to see and do and schedule permitting, I'd love to see and do them with you!

When I was in Seattle, I was all caught up in spending time with my brother and doing things around the city that I never got to visit with anyone. I felt bad, especially after I asked everyone if they had time to get together, but next year, next year!

Have you tried sitting the carrier on its end and gently dropping/putting her in? It usually (for us) results in a lot less injury, because there is no leverage to claw when you go from midair to carrier.

And yes, you will miss her MUCH more than she misses you. But you will STILL be expected to provide copious treats and lots of scratches when you return from trips. It doesn't matter if you need to do laundry, change sheets or pay bills -- GET YOUR PRIORITIES in line and give her attention. She will demand it :-)

I'm missing you already! Save travels this week.

Well, that was our first try, so any advice is greatly appreciated! Although her carrier is also a top loader, so she seemed to be able to defy gravity just enough to escape a couple of times. Hopefully I'll get better at it.

And I really don't want to go on this trip - it's only three and a half days, but it's breaking my heart. When I get back, I think Maddie is going to get tired of me real quick ;).

That 4:00am thing will get better. Milo was quite the bad kitten when it came to that. But he got over it, fairly quickly if I recall.

Enjoy your baby!

Oh, quick would be good! I mean, while I can *totally* appreciate that she wants ear scritches and/or wants me to watch her eat kibble at four frickin' a.m. in the morning, that's just a wee bit early for me ;). Here's hoping it's just a phase!
