The State of Veronica, Summer 2010 Edition

Jun 21, 2010 11:26

I've had a couple people defriend me recently. Which is fine, no problem, Godspeed and God Bless - they were here for the TW fic, and I assume they left because they were no longer into TW or perhaps they thought that I'd never post another TW story. Yet that always makes me a little sad, like I've let them down somehow. Was I not witty enough? ( Read more... )

People defriends you without telling you why? Shame on them
Looking forward to TWfic and nonfic stuff from you :)

Hi there *waves*! Aw, I don't mind the de-friending even if I do take it a little personally. Some folks signed on strictly for the stories and with TW fading and/or changing, I get it. I was flattered they liked the work enough to stick around and sorry they're disappointed at the lack of it.

But hey, you're here! That's the best part ;) - thank you!

It's not the defriending they should be ashamed of, it's the not saying goodbye and let you know why :)
I've friended my f-list for the fic, some has stopped writing TW, some has moved their fic to a ficjournal, that's not enough reason for me to defriend someone ;)

I also love to read RL news on my flist. It's what separates LJ from a mailing list -- people are real people here, not just pseuds. Not that I don't love fannish posts as well, but LJ made fans into real people, and I love that.

Good to see you! I'm sorry to hear about all the travel and back pain, but glad you're doing well overall. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the job gives you a break real soon.

No need to reply if you're busy or on the road. Just happy to see ya. ^__^

Hi you! Hey, I've been following your moving adventures from afar - aside from the sheer hassle of moving house, I love the adventure part of it, and your new place sounds exciting! All that new territory for the sithkitties to conquer ;).

And yeah, the real life stuff is what makes lj so much richer, especially since we all have so much in common beyond fandom - life, basically. Speaking of that, any chance you'll make it to Seattle this summer?

take care and good luck with the move! v

I actually love the adventure, too, as well as organizing events, so it's all rather fun, actually. ^__^

I'm planning to be out in Seattle the second week/weekend of August. With any luck, your schedule will cooperate and we can at least meet up for lunch or dinner.

I've had a few people de-friend me and I'm supposing it was for the same reason. In my case, it'd be a correct assumption, but you know, it would be nice if people waved goodbye :).

I like personal posts, too! I like seeing what people do in their lives, even if I don't always comment. Your writing sounds awesome, can't wait to read a bunch of those fics.

Hi there! Yeah, I totally get the de-friending thing, especially given the state of TW fandom, but I guess we'll never know for sure why. Ah, well *g*.

Anyway, I'm glad you like to read the every day stuff, too! Some connections are universal, aren't they? Beyond fandom. But I hope to get more writing done - I find it very de-stressing, especially when I can give our characters happy endings!

thx for stopping by! V

People are universal, culture isn't, I suppose. Half of my fascination with personal stories on my flist is how different things can be in other countries, in other lives. Fandom is just the launch pad, I suppose :).

Hmmn, I've defriended a few people lately (but not you *g*) because their comments elsewhere tell me we're not on the same page any more, and they don't seem to be reading my posts anymore either - they don't comment to me, and their replies when I comment to them seem fairly generic, so... I guess sometimes (maybe especially in fandom) people move on - it's very odd to me actually, cos it seems like when that happens in real life it's so much more... natural? Organic? Things just drift away gently. But on lj you can't really drift, you have to proactively defriend when it's clear you're off in different directions... I'm sure that's all it was for you too, you know, but I do get the eeeep of it all ( ... )

I'm with you. I'm on LJ every day, I just don't seem to be writing that much in my own. Heh.

Hang in there, hon. Hopefully, life will calm down a bit soon.

Hi!! Heh, remember when we joined LJ - what was that, ten years ago? Can't believe we're still here and how much of my daily life it is. Glad you're still here with me!

Work sucks, no doubt about it - it really is a trap, having to work in order to have things like food and stuff. Talk about golden handcuffs. Work situation any better for you? I know things were really awful for a while with your co-worker. That's the worst - people problems cut us right to the core.

But you know I love ya ;) - ronnie
