Quick Question About TV-ratings

I live in Norway, and they just started airing S02 of Veronica Mars here at one of the public access channels.

My question is, do international ratings get noticed or taken into the equation?
(I, personally doubt this, but I figured I'd ask to be sure.)
Presumably, VM is aired all over the Globe, not just in the US and Canada.

I don't think they do, as my understanding is that only American viewers are taken into account.

I figured as much.. *sigh*

(A bit stupid, imo. I mean... Global airing should mean global rating-counts too.. I guess the American networks/channels are the ones shelling out the buckaroos for producing series season after season, but I could be wrong. Studios and producers rely on networks picking up the series, unless the networks and/or channels from other countries pitch in, they have no say in the matter - at least this is how I imagine it might be.)

I want more seasons, does it show? :)

I would think that it might contribute in some small way though. Because if there is demand for a show internationally, the networks might be more inclined to keep producing it, because networks do earn a fair bit of money from selling broadcast rights in other countries. :)

is it the network that benefits from them selling the broadcast rights, or is it the production company (in VM's case, Warner Brothers)?
