Do you ever think that sometimes we're reading too much into a TV show? Not you specifically, but in general...

the thing about it not being noir anymore is that we don't know if Keith being sheriff will stick, or if his morally ambiguous PI traits will make him less of a good cop now so that the law will still be corrupt (and maybe there will be more tension between he and V, the promo for next week did show them arguing about Landry), I think we should wait to see how it fully plays out before declaring the death of noir on VM.

But I agree that they should have done a lot more to explain why Mac was totally fine with sex now, I found that weird too!

Me to my friend: "Did Mac just lose her virginity...on a lunch break?" I know it was just after a Valentine's extravaganza but it could have been more romantic. Wasn't Bronson just wanting an hour off before he had to go to class? Eh... it's nice to see Mac and him together, though. They're super cute.

I didn't mind the sheriff thing. I just figured they called him to fill the place before they could really figure everything out. But if they could make it work with Keith being an awesome policeman vigilante type, I'd be totally cool with it, too.

Heh, thanks for the link.  I'm just glad I'm not alone in my thoughts.  Unfortunately, fandom's quite an angry place right now, and I'm certainly no more immune than the next person.

Well, as I was typing I found I was going to start either plaigerizing you or looking back at your entry and quoting you and it was late so I didn't want to do either.

Usually I disagree with you when you're negative, but this time I think you were too spot-on.

Plus the thing with Mac just drove me crazy. She lost her virginity for crying out loud and we see it like it was a)great sex, which it's usually not, and b)nothing special at all. Like an above poster said, it was on her lunch break!

Hee, I know what you mean.  There are plenty of people out there who write up these awesome analysis of things, and I just end up giving up and being all, "Here, just go look at what they said, they know what they're talking about," lol.  Needless to say, I'm flattered you felt the need to do so with what I wrote.

The Mac thing... yeah.  I wanted to find it cute and sweet, I really did, but... there is too much that was just glossed over and ignored (not that I'm unused to that particular "writing technique" this season or anything.)  But yeah, lunchbreak sex?  Sigh.

I have to disagree with you on a few points. I also felt Bronson/Mac was extremely rushed, but we have to remember that the season was cut down 2 episodes, which doesn't seem like a lot but in Veronica Mars time, it is.

Also, I'm not spoiled at all, but I'm almost positive that according to law or something, Keith is only a temporary sheriff. He needs to be elected and I really doubt Keith wants to be Sheriff anymore, especially after this Dean O'Dell murder case is over.

I told another poster before: I am used to saying "I know we didn't get to see it onscreen, it must have happened offscreen." But I'm tired of having to say it. I think that you shouldn't have to say it all the time. If Veronica and Logan were together in the next episode, I think most people would be upset that they didn't show how, and I doubt you'd be saying, "Well, it probably happened offscreen."

Mac was not only rushed, it was handled terribly. Unless we're supposed to assume that she and Bronson had already done that before, then this was Mac's first time, ever. And what they showed us was not the first time a traumatized girl has had sex ever. In real life, your first time is not like that, not usually, and especially not when you've been traumatized by sex in the past.
