Summary: 150 words on a short conversation between Teague and Will post-AWE AU (no undead heart curse), regarding their person in common. Also borrows from unofficial Disney "canon" regarding Jack's past.

“A whole shipful?”
“Man’s as likely to hang for one as for a whole cargo of Africans,” Captain Teague dryly pointed out, cleaning his pistol.
Will oughtn’t have been surprised, given Jack’s preaching on freedom. “I would have thought employment anathema to him.”
“Children usually fight the current-” He blew some powder off the end of the pistol. “Jackie’s is less … placid, than he once fantasized. Blood outs us all. Was inevitable, seeing as he’s always had a harsh view of indenture to the unworthy.” He glanced meaningfully at the younger man.
Will remembered once upon a time - the Brown whose talent could’ve been the master of Hell’s own forge, skilled and sober and strict, though fair. Not the brokenhearted sot. “Not unworthy,” he evenly corrected. “Just unhappy.”
Only after he left Teague did he wonder why Jack had been telling the old man about Will’s past at all.
