The sailor Captain Turner pulled aboard was rattlingly familiar. He noticed the way his eyes cast about, lighting on various sails and lines.
He introduced himself. The man murmured, “Bill Andersson.” He finally met Will’s eyes, and Will was arrested by their particular blue. Father?
But this Bill was far cheerier, even in present condition. “Do you fear death?” Will asked.
“Is this drowning?” Andersson wondered, squinting. “Seems painless.”
Will chuckled. “Will you serve … or move on?”
Andersson sighed. “Rosie’s not passed yet. Guess this lone wolf’ll wait awhile and serve.” He shrugged, grinning. “Take a chance on me?”
