in this analogy, America is a nursery

In case you haven't been following very closely, or have forgotten specifics, I'm flying to Germany on September 9th and probably won't be back until very late next July.  There is still a possibility I may leave a couple days early to bop around NYC with Ed and Tim for a few days before I go.  SO!  If you want to grab coffee or a hug before I ( Read more... )

I completely understand the desire to travel the world. Whenever I envision my *ideal* future, I'm just a freelance artist, taking week-long trips to various artsy countries for exhibitions and new gallery openings every once and awhile. Or maybe I'll finally write a novel and it will get published and I'll just have to go on an international tour to promote it. I just can't see myself being happy being stuck in one place all the time.

I don't think it would be bad if you just didn't come back, though we would all certainly miss you. But see, if you stayed in Europe *I* would have a legit excuse to return - so I could visit you! - so in my opinion you should stay. (:

Maybe someone rich will die and leave me money? Maybe I'll marry an 80 something billionaire? Maybe...I'll join the military?

All of these are so unrealistic...

RUN FOR PRESIDENT.

I think the presidency is a very respectable career to pursue. Of course you have another 15 years until you're old enough to run, so you should probably think of something to do in the meantime.

But don't stay in Germany! I'm already sad that I won't see you for (almost) a year. Maybe I should hope you don't have too much fun, so you'll be eager to return ;)

As of next week, only 14 years. If I want to be ludicrously young for the job.

Except I doubt I could be a politician because I seem to make people uncomfortable. Yesterday at work Jaclyn stopped midsentence and said with a sort of timid look on her face, "Sometime you make these faces and I don't know what you're thinking but it's like I did or said something to upset you."

I had been trying to get pretzel remnants out of my teeth.

Nonsense! Just burst into a catchy song during the convention and your approval rating will go through the roof.

Have fun! good luck! etc. etc.

Now for the meat of it:
Grab beautiful German men for all of us.
Drink Beer
Eat Chocolate

I'm trying to see if I can get MIT to let me go to Germany for legit reasons so if that happens, I'll let you know and we'll chill out!

Send me post cards! I'll email you my address.

Not that I see you that much during the school year, but I'll miss seeing you on break!
