FIC: Symbiosis, LoM, Gen

Started this months ago, and now I've finally got it posted. This fic is what boring Biology lectures do to me, apparently. Oh well, at least they inspire something. *g* (Although, I *do* find symbiotic relationships interesting, so I'm not sure how this happened. *facepalm*)

You should go to more biology lectures if this is the result! I particularly liked the progression from commensalism to mutualism.

Thank you!

It's a bad habit, I fear. *g* Though perhaps one of these days I'll get around to editing/posting that fic I started during an especially boring Ecology lecture...

I figured there was enough of a crossover audience that someone would appreciate that joke. XD

Thank you for commenting! I'm glad you liked it.

Aw, I like "Mutualism" best, of course. I think Sam's deluding himself with "Commensalism", thinking he hasn't changed, and "Parasitism" is just downright creepy.

sheer brutish, bullheaded stupidity that seemed to have spread infectiously through this era like a venereal disease,

Awesome turn of phrase! Very vivid. And icky. *g*

Then he returns to watching Sam, with a silent, unreadable expression that always makes Sam far more uncomfortable

I know exactly the look you mean! It always makes me uncomfortable, too. Just what does Gene know, and how does he know it? I love that you've pointed it out here.

Sometimes there is a disconnect between what Gene says he thinks and what Gene actually does

YES. This is one of my favorite things about the show, and about Gene.

a collection of Tissue Compression Eliminators

Bwah! No, Sam, those are in the back of your wardrobe...

It's like he can see Sam's train of thought chugging along before him, and he's almost found the ideal spot to hop on.Another oh-so-canon expression that I can see ( ... )

I can't tell you how much I adore getting comments like this! *g* Thank you so much! I'm very glad you enjoyed it. :D

(And yeah, Sam is totally deluding himself in Commensalism. But then, I think he does that a lot. *g*)

It scares him even more that sometimes he wonders whether he really wants freedom from this place; sometimes he thinks that freedom is this place, and that it's the escape that will lead him back into a prison.

Really really loved that line right there, lovely foreshadowing that we all know and so true.

All around lovely fic, very very good!

Awesome idea for a fic. It's really good!

It's like he can see Sam's train of thought chugging along before him, and he's almost found the ideal spot to hop on.

That's my favourite line. It describes what's happening so well.
