Well, Chinese New Year, anyway. To celebrate, I'm having a yummy Chinese lunch--either chicken or shrimp fried rice. I'm leaning toward chicken, but we'll see

What did you think of Dad's Army?

I liked it--there's some real wit at work in the episodes I saw, coupled with some really silly stuff, and some snark too.

The actors were really good--especially John LeMesurier. I don't know that I could watch a ton of these episodes back to back, but two at a time was just about right.

They broadcast the first episode the same week I was born and they still show repeats regularly on BBC2. I must have seen them all over the years.

How long was this show on the air (first-run)?

It ran from 1968 to 1977 and there were 80 episodes according to Wikipedia. That's a fairly normal output for comedy over here as only 'soaps' go in for large writing teams and comedy series usually have only one or two writers.
