I'm not good at relaxing either; I have to do it consciously. This is probably why we're not good at falling, because you have to relax to do that. I'm a "brace for impact" sort of person, and that's not good; drunks often survive car crashes because they're limp.
Yoga is helping a bit. At least I'm more aware of it, and I tense in my shoulders too.
And yeah, that was my thought, too - that learning how to let my body relax would help with falling properly. (I never thought about car accidents before, but that's a good point, too!) And put that way, I'm glad he's teaching me how to relax first, before forcing me to start learning how to fall. Other classes have not been this nice about it

Maybe a weekly class would help. Mine's weekly and some of the people there have been going two years and they're very flexible and relaxed, especially considering the age of some of them. So once weekly make a big difference. Of course your schedule might not allow it. :-)
