First of all, the fandom is, what? Three months old? And we're already establishing awards comms for fanfic? I'm not bitching about it - it doesn't matter to me either way - but it seems kinda... premature, you know?
So I was trying to get my mind around the fact that people thought three months' worth of fanfic merited consideration for awards when I saw some people pointing out what was either a thoughtless oversight or a considered snub (I'm not at all sure which it really was) and I thought my mind had too much to consider to do a good job of it.
Then I got a notification that my fic had been nominated for "Best WIP," which totally stunned me and rendered me further unable to adequately process the whole scenario
( ... )
Since I'm new to heavy fandom involvement, I can't comment about the etiquette regarding nominations, except to say that I don't care, but can sort of see why someone might, especially if the nomination in question is to a comm they might be leery of being associated with.
As for the rest, e-mail me. I think I've figured it out.
It gives me a headache. I was all 'Hey, I got nominated for something!' Then, 'Wait, where did this community come from?'
And then cue the realization a few hours later (prompted by someone on my f-list that probably followed my link, no less!) that the comm was rather skewed. I'm glad word's getting out, and now people are getting nominated from all types of fic, but I still can't help but feel slightly... oily. I almost want to tell them 'No thanks' and withdraw my drabble.
(In fact, I'm looking through the community now, and am sorely tempted to withdraw simply because of the slapped-together feel of it.)
Eh, I'd just brave it out and live it down if I were you. I agree with blade_girl. The fandom is too young, but they're doing it, so they may as well do it balanced. I blitzed them with nominations to give them a fair chance. (In retrospect, perhaps I should have asked the authors first. :/)

Does this mean that we're grounded?

I wonder what was the big rush to create an awards comm so soon.
