You know mamadeb! Sweet! I met her when we were both on a martial-arts panel at ConneXions back when I lived on the East Coast. It's cool when the Intarweb is actually, ya know, webby!!!!

(Oh, yeah, and interesting meme, too!)

I've been thinking of posting about how LJ is a scale-free network, and how that's just like random other things like Judaism and the human genome, but I think my flist would hit me with sticks.

*I'd* like to read such a post! And I promise to leave my sticks at home.

Eh. There isn't all that much more to say about it, other than that it's cool. So the post would be mostly along the lines of, "Hay guise, LJ is a scale-free network! Like proteins! ZOMG, it's so cool! It's cool, innit? Tell me how it's so cool!!!!11!!one!"

Which is where the sticks would come in.

Caramelized Onions.

I knew I liked you for a reason.

In addition to taste, I love that if I forget to tie back my hair when I cook them, until I shower, my hair smells like them. ^_^

Your love of onions aside...white wine? Aww, and we were getting along SO well! :)

I'm not so much about the tannins. :P

Meh, I'm awful picky about that stuff in general. So no one should take my opinion too seriously.

But, clearly, you're just a lunatic. ;)

Heh. One of my weaknesses has to be the most un-kosher thing on the planet.

Clam Chowder.

Dairy base, shellfish, usually has bacon in it, too. We're talking a trifecta a rabbi would instantly veto.

Then again, I'm one of those crazy Pagans anyway.

Heh. Dairy base is okay, but the bacon makes the trifecta (although technically the bacon is a twofer: the shellfish is mostly redundant.)

Pork is still far from the healthiest thing one can eat. And clams are pretty much the same, especially in the days before reliable cooking methods and refrigeration.

Common misconception. The laws are not utilitarian (or at least, their reasons aren't).

We'll have olives at our Ratty room party at MediaWest*Con...

I'm just sayin'.

[And thanks to you, I'm wondering whether the rooms where the best-attended parties are held or the most-popular room dealers hang out should be regarded as hubs in a scale-free network... get out of my brain!)

They totally are! Also, the blogs of BNFs, metafandom, fandom_wank (alas!) webcomics like SomethingPositive, and megafandoms like HP and StarTrek.

the blogs of BNFs

*nod nod* One of my first thoughts. I went to Escapade once at the last minute and a kind stranger (congoer) let me sleep in her room and added me to her f-list, and it wasn't until later that I realized she was a HUGE lj hub all in one person! I felt strangely honored that I was able to say I had slept with her.

I mean, in her room.

And in the days before Teh Intarweb - I'm thinking there was still a scale-free network with people who ran fan clubs, newsletters, APAs, conventions, and fanzines acting as the hubs. And the high fault tolerance allowed for the occasional gafiation not to take down fandom... duuuuude.

See? It's almost as fun as fractals.

I'm not making a post about fractals.
