Summary: Aiba's POV of Invinsible. Sho's been in love with Aiba for a while, always observing him... but what about Aiba?
Aiba was just another university student in his opinion, he had nothing special. He would just live his days trying to enjoy them the most. He continued studying and got into university because he was lacking any special goal in his life. He liked many things, and he enjoyed doing them all, but he just couldn’t decide which one to chose, that’s why he kept playing basketball and he was involved in many other activities. But considering that, he didn’t know how they have ended up being popular in the campus, for him, they were just normal students.
That was why he was there now, sitting in the campus garden with his childhood friend just making time for their next class. It was a usual thing for them, just to sit lazing around in any shadow being observed by a group of girls to who Nino was constantly winking.
“Can you not do that?” Nino turned towards him with a smirk.
“Do what?”
“You know what. It’s annoying” He really thought it was not fair for the girls that maybe were thinking now they could get a chance of any kind.
“But it’s funny, and it’s just fan service anyway” He replied before giving a salute to the group of girls.
“Fan service…” Aiba rolled his eyes
“By the way, speaking of fans. There is your freaky fan” He said pointing slightly toward their right, where a boy with a back pack, an ugly shirt and glasses was standing.
“Don’t call him freaky fan, he has a name” He snorted not sure why he always defended that guy. They had started noticing him looking at him a long time ago, but it didn’t look like he would ever come to talk to him. And after all this time, they’ve gotten used to his presence, and Aiba was a little flattered and curious with the guy’s behavior.
“Oh, true. Saku-something, right?” Aiba rolled his eyes, he knew Nino knew the name of the guy, and that he was just teasing him, but he replied anyway.
“Sakurai Sho. And it’s not a freak… he intrigues me. I would like to know why he’s always staring… I mean, he’s a smart guy and all” He let his thoughts flow freely. After some time, they had started to do some research about the guy, and he had come to know quite a lot. Like that he was an economics student; that he was the best student in his class but that he didn’t have many friends. He had even learnt some of his habits from looking at him, after all, he always sat close to them to “stalk” them, so it was an easy thing to do. He knew he always used to eat alone in the same bench, he knew perfectly the way he used to put the glasses right when they were slipping in his nose while eating, how he marked the page of the book he was reading with that old red page marker…
“Hey! Come back to the earth!” Nino was laughing so bad at him now, but he stop to continue with his rant “Isn’t it obvious, he likes you”
“There is no way, maybe he’s making an study?” Nino just snorted before getting up.
“Come on, we have to go to class. Say goodbye to the freak” Aiba just smacked his friend’s head and starting walking towards their class.
Days passed by the same, until one day something changed. They were walking towards the usual place in the garden when Aiba noticed something. The always lonely Sakurai wasn’t alone. He looked other side before he could get caught staring by the guy.
Once they reached their usual spot in the campus garden, Nino took his chance to comment the news.
“Look at that, your stalker got a friend”
“Yeah. Is he new? I haven’t seen him around before”
Nino wouldn’t let any chance to tease his friend.
“What? You worried? Jealous maybe?”
“Don’t be stupid. Why should I?”
Aiba snapped harsher than he had pretended. But Nino just laughed it away.
“You two are a pair of idiots, you know? And especially you, why don’t you go to talk to him before somebody else appears and gets his attention… or maybe this had already happened”
“He’d thought I’m stupid...”
“Well, you really are. But that’s not the point now, you should do something”
“I know it’s just-“
“Hahaha what? You’re scared? That doesn’t fit you, you know?” Aiba pouted to his friends, wishing to end the topic. He didn’t want to talk about that anymore, and more now that he was troubled with the presence of that new guy.
“You managed to kill the boss in your new game?”
“Of course, with who do you think you’re talking?” That would never fail to make his friend forget about what they were talking about.
Day by day Aiba kept watching him, seeing how close he seemed with his friend and feeling weird about that fact. It’s not that he wasn’t happy he had found a friend; it’s just that he found himself wishing to be that friend really often lately while Nino kept calling him idiot.
The next day, right when they were walking to class, he saw a guy pass running and it wasn’t until he saw Sho’s friend chasing him that he realized who was.
He stared amazed about how different he looked with different clothes and with no glasses. He couldn’t believe it was the same person. He keep staring to them until Nino’s comment brought him back to reality
“Wow” Is that your stalker? He looks… hot”
Aiba just ignored his friends comment and kept walking, with Nino chasing him.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing” He replied maybe too quick to sound credible. And he just got an “I-don’t-buy-that-crap” look from Nino, so he gave up and said what he was thinking. “You think they are dating? I mean, he has even changed his style…”
“If you care that much about that, why don’t you ask him directly?”
He had thought that too, but somehow he couldn’t find the courage to do it.
And if he wasn’t confused enough about all, some days after, he walked across the new guy in the campus, and he wondered how he wasn’t with Sho then. He tried not to look at him, but he couldn’t avoid it. He had to admit that the guy was good looking, and that just made him feel worst, maybe it was true that they were dating. But the surprise came when the guy started walking towards him till he stopped right in front of him.
“You’re Aiba, right?” What’s with that? Does that guy always talks to people like that?
“Yes, and you are?”
“Ah, sorry. Matsumoto Jun. What if we talk for a while?” Well, at least now he knew the guy’s name. And maybe he could take the chance to know if they were really dating or if he could still get a chance, so he agreed to go with Jun.
They just sat in a coffee place close to the campus, and Aiba didn’t really know what to say, so he just stared at him until he started talking.
“You wanna know my opinion? You’re a pair of idiots” Aiba chocked
“Excuse me?” Aiba stared at him with wide eyes, had that guy just called him idiot? And who else did he mean?
“Yeah, you and Sakurai. Maybe he hadn’t noticed because he’s too dull to believe it, but I’ve seen how you stare at him, and how you know he stares at you. At first I thought it may have been because you were annoyed or something, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not because of that. Am I wrong?”
“wha-what do you mean?” Aiba felt the heat in his cheeks.
“You like him, right?” That wasn’t a question, and even if it was one, he wasn’t going to answer that fast. So instead of that he asked something first.
“Are you two… dating?”
Jun giggled before answering.
“No, we are roommates.” So that was why they were so close. “So, coming back to the topic….”
After the whole conversation, Aiba was happy and amused at the same time. He had to confess that his first impression of Jun wasn’t right, he was a good guy after all. So he just agreed with Jun plan about having a date with Sho, Jun said he’d take care about the other part and that he’ll let him know when soon.
So, when he got a call from Jun telling him about having a date with a friend, he wasn’t surprised. He was waiting that call, but once he got it he started to feel nervous. He was going to have a date with Sakurai Sho, but he didn’t exactly know what to expect.
He didn’t care about Nino teasing him about it, in his opinion it was really normal to feel that anxious before the date till the point of crashing against things and losing his appetite… well, maybe it wasn’t that normal, but he couldn’t help it. He had been nervous since Jun called him.
The day of the date wouldn’t be exaggerated to say he tried on his whole closet, not being able to decide what to wear. After much thought, he opted for some casual clothes, after all, it wasn’t like it was the first time the other was going to see him.
Half an hour before the date, he was already waiting in the agreed place. He couldn’t wait at home anymore and he opted for waiting already. He didn’t want to make Sho wait, but maybe 30 minutes was a little too much, and after a while he started to get ready thinking what would happened if Sho decided not to show up. His fears about that started to grow when the clock reached the accorder time and Sho wasn’t there. He decided to wait anyway, maybe something had come up and he couldn’t arrive at time.
10 minutes late, he heard somebody breathing behind him and getting closer and his words just slipped out of his mouth without much though, he was really relieved he had come.
“I was starting to think you wouldn’t come, Sakurai Sho”
