FALLOUT AU // ATTN: MATT, NEL

Duran paused at the gates, shouldering his rifle as the metal doors creaked open. Behind him, the barren wasteland that was his playground spread out, the setting sun slowly engulfing the plains in darkness. He'd made good time making it here, and while a night in the wastes did not bother him in the slightest, the chance to sleep in a real bed on ( Read more... )

When he was actually in town (which wasn't all that often, considering he still claimed he lived there), Matt was often found in the saloon in the evenings. He'd claim it was too dark to work properly, or that he needed time to rest, or some other bullshit reason Moira had long since stopped caring about. (Assistants were hard to come by, after all!)
Thus, Matt had entered the saloon not all that long ago and was currently seated at the bar, starting on his first drink.

Mr. Burke, Nel had found, despite being a creepy son of a bitch, was as well-informed as he would have you believe. Putting up with his flirting was a nuisance but one she would have to put up with if she planned on setting up the network already underway. Tynave and Farleen were already scouting out bases-- thus far, the Super-Duper Mart looked most likely as a secondary.

For now...

She pinched the hand on her knee sharply with a smile above the saloon table, expression not twitching away from one of cordial interest. "You are aware that would lose me a valuable supplier, Mr. Burke." As if Nel would blow up the safe haven--Megaton didn't suffer the nightly raids by super mutants or raiders that other towns did.

Duran stepped inside, taking a seat at the bar and nodding a greeting to Gob. The ghoul replied with a happy welcome, dropping a scotch onto the counter in front of his 'smoothskin' friend.

For the moment, Duran ignored the others in the bar, instead downing his drink and requesting another. He was covered in filth from the job he'd just left, small splatters of blood visible through the grime. From his forehead ran a stream of now dry blood, the cut it had spilled from having finally stopped bleeding.

The glass met his lips again and he allowed his gaze to sweep the room. The place was busier than usual.

Matt nodded in greeting to Duran as he sat down--he didn't particularly know the man, but counted Gob as a (sort of) friend as well, so anyone Gob saw fit to greet was at least worth a nod. He attempted to keep an ear on what he could hear of Nel and Burke's conversation, though was a bit distracted by the blood on Duran.
"Busy night?"
