Thing is, I want to write. The spirit is willing, but it's my time of the month and I'm tired, so my muse has pretty much gone AWOL. I don't feel like working on any of my current WIPs, but I reckon I could manage a few drabbles. Only thing is, I have no idea what to write

It's supposed to be the season of goodwill, a day for making merry, even if they are at war, but merry is the last thing he feels as he sits there, cradling a brandy as the sound of the officers' laughter and singing swirls around him without actually touching him.
He doesn't want to look, he doesn't, he knows what he will see and he cannot bear it; but despite himself, he finds himself glancing up - just briefly - and bracing himself against the inevitable sear of pain.
Nelson sits at the head of the table, and there's Hardy at his right hand, of course. Their faces are flushed with drinking, and they're laughing at something - no different to anyone else in this room - but he can see how they don't look at anyone but each other, can almost feel the frisson of energy passing between them ( ... )

"Good Enobarbus." His name is uttered on a single, husky breath. A hand reaches out to him, the profusion of gold bracelets chiming invitingly. Kohl-rimmed eyes watch him with smoky seductiveness as he approaches.
He takes the proffered hand, and grazes a kiss against the back of it, noting the sword callouses that scratch against his fingertips.
The absurdity of the situation catches up to him, and he cannot but laugh at it.
Antony draws back his hand in irritation. "What now?"
Still laughing, he explains honestly, "Only that it is hard, my lord, to take seriously this masquerade."
Antony's frown deepens, but any force it might have held is broken when he replies, in such a perfect mimicry of her, "Know you not, soldier, true majesty when you see it ( ... )
