This is amazing and wonderful and beautifully written and so much more but I'm at a loss for words...

It's definitely an unbelievably adorable thing to do and in contrast to Elagablus' usual sadistic self it's almost heartbreakingly cute. :)

Yeah, there are quite a few moments in the histories when Elagabalus is supposed to have done something that would seem really sweet to us (especially with regards to Hierocles), in among all the crazy evil stuff.

I guess, for Dio, it was another example of Elagabalus' total disregard for Roman societal norms. Officially honouring a slave-woman as if she were the wife of a consul or an ex-consul would've been all sorts of NODIRTYBADWRONG to the Roman mindset.
