Just home from the first half of my very first root canal. Well, yippy. Anyway, Special Dentist, who performed this procedure, was someone I'd never met before and I don't like dentists, as a rule, since they trap you where you are helpless and cannot talk, and his brusque manner needed some getting used to ( Read more... )

Special Dentist sounds like a good guy.

I'll keep y'all posted about whether root canals are really the horror I was led to believe they are by popular culture.
I had half an idea that they were an urban myth, not ever having had one nor known anyone else that's had one either.

IKR? Well, now you know me! I had one. And it's not very terrible atm, so there's another thing. (I mustn't say this too loudly lest my jaw takes its revenge on me in the morning.)

I had a root canal once and had absolutely no pain, which I was pretty impressed with. I hope it's the same for you! I think special root canal-only dentists cause less pain than regular dentists when they do root canals, based on anecdotal evidence.

Currently, it's still almost zero. There's some residual discomfort, but it's not really painful. And hey, yeah, maybe the specialised ones are better, good point!
