This reminds me of "The Education of Ianto Jones" and I think you're referencing it in themes and under current dynamics, the whole public/private thing which is soooooo hard to navigate.
I like the way Blaine's parents are walking on egg-shells, but still love him, but aren't sure who they raised (which is so annoying for the offspring, but really common with parents, I suspect) it takes a while for parents to be able understand that it isn't about the sex, which is what I think concerns them first and then they realise that it's about Life.
I think acceptance of children, of their choices, is a recurring theme in a lot of my stuff, and the public/private thing -- I sort of navigate that myself in a lot of ways with my family, on very different subjects, and since this is very much My Issues in Fic, it shows up again :).
What I find interesting about Blaine, incidentally, is that his parents are only there in a negative space kind of way, and man, that appeals to my inner fanfic writer, because wow. That's so awesome to extrapolate from what we get.
I loved this, so much. I loved your take on Blaine's feelings and him acting mature because he had no other choice ;_; this was beautiful, thank you so much for sharing <3
