I love how you just had to add that it was "an independent organic shop" just so no one was confused!
;-)

But we do live in one of the most beautiful places in the world!!

Me too, it's beautiful, clean and vibrant. Whenever I am in other cities I rate them compared to Vancouver, forgetting that it has built it's reputation on it's cleanliness.

Not sure about the "clean" part, but it sure is beautiful and vibrant.

haha ok ok, I don't mean to press an issue, but here's an LJ entry from a friend of mine today who lives in Vancouver right now that I thought I'd share just to give you some small perspective, and plus I figured you'd find it amusing in some demented and twisted little way (as I sort of do)

"This has only been this way for the past month and gradually getting worse.

There is no exaggerations or metaphors here:

The last block of my walk to work is COVERED IN HUMAN SHIT.

It's fucking disgusting. This is one of the only things I hate about this city. And there is at least one regular who actually sleeps, not beside, but in his shit.

It's getting so bad that it's even hard to dodge. Fuuuuuck."

gross.

EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW!

Hilarious and nasty. I had no idea the situation was so bad there. Where abouts was this (just out of curiosity)

I thought it was bad that I see vomit and great green gobs everywhere here. But a bum sleeping in his own shit, is more disgusting than a child playing in an old, drunk man's steaming pile of vomit.

Beijing is covered in shit. Small children there often wear pants with slits in the bum so they can do their business without getting off mum's back, or just in the street. And Korean children are encouraged to pee on the sidewalk or just into a dish if out when they have to go.
