Valentine Gay

Feb 14, 2010 22:28

I'd like to take a moment to wish a Happy Valentine's day to all of the gay couples who were not interviewed, nominated, or even considered in any of the tenths of newscast on Italian TV's news.
In this "country" we exist only around pride time apparently.

It's just upsetting, you know?
I don't care much for V-day, but it's like they're saying omosexual love is not love "with a capital L". And I'm sure they didn't even notice.

That's not the way our government goes. Lately, our *prime minister* was involved in an escort scandal, and people was all saying, "see, he's a real ladies man". Another politics of the opposition was involved in a "trannie" scandal, and of course he was not treated the same way. They were all missing the point that both of them were using public money to satisfy their sexual urges.
The only Homosexuals allowed in our TV are either very stereotypically flamboyant or transvestite.
We do have a couple of openly gay politicians, and we used to have a transexual in the parliament, but she's out of there now as her party didn't make the cut at the last election.
Not to mention that until we have that closeted case of Maledict XVI as a Pope, we have no bright future ahead.
All in all it's a bad situation nowadays here for homosexuals. At least the daily bashing has stopped lately.

Happy (a bit belated) Valentine's Gay to you V! ♡
It's sad that gay couples were ignored (or avoided) by the media there, especially when Valentine's is supposed to be about all kinds of love and not just heterosexual couples in love with a capital L, but about friendship too and simply loving, caring and respecting everyone regardless. :(
