We may not last but we'll have fun till it ends

I'm going to post about Whitby before I post about holidaying in Northumberland, because there's a greater danger I'll forget who the bands were. Also, this LJ is chronically non-chronological these days. I mean, the dairy-free custard tarts were weeks ago now and I still haven't written about them...

So, to Whitby! )

gigs, wgw, friends, bands, goth, whitby

it was a very watery fish, and tasted like the inside of a potting shed

Ooh! Yum! Erm...

In a spirit of fair reporting, I should say that it was only me that thought this. davefish, keris and waylay all looked a bit bewildered by my potting shed analogy.

Possibly they've never tried potting shed?

It's in the Shambles, with the dancefloor being the tiny carpeted room at the back.

I must remember that Converse are not Nellie-appropriate footwear!

Competing elephants!

I'd recommend the new 80s night as a fun night out. It's also free, so if you wombled in for half an hour and decided you'd rather go home to bed you'd not lose anything. (Nicer beer than Laughtons, too!)

Guitars, drums, shouting, synths, electronic fuzz and everything louder than everything else.

Yeah, they must have had a Wasted Youth.

It was a good weekend - at some point we must manage to meet up somewhere that isn't Whitby though!

Rabia Sorda did also have the problem that their merch stall packed up before the end of the bands, so by the time I was looking to buy stuff from them they were nowhere to be found.

NMA headlining next time should be great. I wonder what the line up for the 20th celebration will be like. Maybe they could get Garbage along.

Is that an oblique bid for a kudo? If so, you may have it (though I also think it's a great idea).

Meeting up between Whitbys isn't a terrible idea, either :)

It was either suggest a band or invent a misdemeanour for C. to have done whilst you were away. And it would be an excellent band choice too.

Besides my other oblique reference to what might be an extra kudo was probably a mistake on my part. Oblique references can save embarassment.

"Over the course of its life, a panga will undergo periodic sex-changes" (TFOAK)

May explain the 'retreating to potting-shed' aspect.
