Very impressed by the elephants! :-D

Am I imagining it, or did you not really hear any particularly good bands at all this time?

Not hearing any particularly good bands is pretty much standard for Whitby (in my opinion ;)

However: 3/4 on Friday were good, and 1.5/4 on Saturday - that's not a bad hit rate. I obviously am just having a negative-sounding morning!

Or I just lack context, which seems more likely. :-)

I'm very grumpy about my free time. If I spend more than a day doing something it had better be nothing short of excellent, or I will make this face :-| or, if the situation calls for it, this face :-( in response.

To be honest, the bands are something of an optional extra. I go to Whitby primarily to have a nice weekend away with Davefish and Keris, and to catch up with a bunch of people I don't see anywhere else. And I eat a lot of nice food, and do a bit of light shopping, and hang about on cliffs being windswept a bit and staring out to sea.

If I were going just for the bands I'd have definitely packed in long ago :)

The elephants were certainly more unexpected!

Yes, I've considered it a few times - the trouble is, there's only so many weekends away I can fit in/afford :) Certainly the bands at DV8 always look way better. I'm especially tempted this year, because I want to go and see all six A4s [*] gathered in York, and that's at the same time.

[*] read as "steam train geekery" if you didn't get that bit :)

I also like DV8, and would greatly recommend. Chris Hamsterboy is excellent at booking interesting bands you (well I) haven't heard of yet.

I saw Mons Meg today. I was impressed, partly by the dancing and partly by them still having most of their fingers - as, if I remember rightly from the last time we met, do you, so you may count yourself impressive also.

I am still reasonably decidigital. Grazed knuckles and bruised wrists are the biggest risks :)

I'm glad you liked them, though. I love dancing (and watching) rapper, so it's lovely to hear that it's appealing to other people as well.

Catching up belatedly, I thought you, too, were a steam loco freak until I realised Mons Meg had long gone to the great scrapyard in the sky - then I saw the word "dancing". Yes, they are good.

Oddly, i feel like i saw *someone* and the Dirty Johnsons as a support somewhere recently but neither remember where nor that it was Pussycat . . .

This Pussycat was fairly obviously feline, with a PVC tail and hair brushed up into cat-ears. See Davefish's Whitby pics for details!
