And he painted Grandad's bike and next-door's cat and dog

On Saturday the mother (who was visiting) and I were up bright and early, on an overground train to Camden Road. We were heading to Cecil Sharp House (headquarters of the English Folk Dance and Song Society) for a day's clog-dancing.

George, the elephant, went on his holidays... )

He sprayed a couple on the corner of the street, they were having a snog
then he fell down on his can, and his aerosol went 'bang'and all they found was a flat cap and his clogs.....

Curse you for that ear-worm!

It's a parody of the more sensible song about Lowry. Recorded by, er, the Barron Knights, I think.

I dance with two teams, Mabel Gubbins (based in Oxfordshire) and Boojum. Boojum have certainly been to Straw Bear a few times.

As soon as Ru demonstrated step 6 of the dance on Saturday I observed that it contained a movement which (if executed with sufficiently little control), gives you a cracking opportunity to kick yourself very hard in the shins.

Oh yes, agreed Ru. "It's got everything, this dance. The chance to kick yourself in the shins, in the ankle, to fall over... in a minute we're going to do step 7, where you'll also have a wonderful opportunity to stand on your own feet."
