hp_humpdrabbles. This is dedicated to Keeks, aka
baby_k21, one of my oldest RPG partners. She writes the Ernie to my Lisa, so I hope this helps brighten your tough week, dearest! Title comes from "Did You Ever Wonder Why?", which you can find
here.
He found her in the greenhouse, the early morning sunlight filtering through green-tinted glass. Her blonde hair was tangled; wisps escaping her ponytail and streaked with dirt and blood. The light framed her head like a halo and illuminated her delicate features.
Ernie released the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. After he hadn't seen her in the Great Hall or on the grounds, he'd feared the worst.
In three steps, he'd crossed the dirt floor and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her tight against him.
She sighed and leaned into his embrace. "Hi."
Despite his fatigue, despite the ache in his arm from an untreated gash, he couldn't help but smile. "You've been in hiding for nine months, and after all we saw tonight, that's all you can say?"
Lisa laughed softly and turned in his arms. "I missed you," she added, nuzzling his jaw. Her hand slid up his arm, stopping when her fingers touched the drying blood there. Her eyes widened. "Ernie, you need to get that looked at."
"Later." His hands slipped beneath her shirt and splayed over her bare back. "Right now, I just need you."
Her lips found his, and he was lost.
It was a blur much as the night's battle had been. Lisa's shirt was over her head, and Ernie was lowering her to the ground as her hands found his buttons. There was no finesse, but a jumble of lips and hands; kisses and touches pouring kerosene on the embers burning between them. There was a sense of urgency that prevailed, fueled on by their near-death experience and long separation.
He'd had no word from her in months, and there'd barely been time to speak before the fighting began.
There was a ripping sound as her bra was partially ripped from her body, serviceable cotton dangling around her torso. Neither of them noticed -- especially not Ernie, as her breasts were free to his touch. He flicked a pink nipple with his tongue, and her answering moan sent a shot of arousal straight to his erection.
Lisa panted his name and pushed at his trousers, sending them low on his hips. It was nearly too much; four hands fumbling at clothes, pushing them down tangled legs. He reached between her legs and pushed her knickers to the side, fitting his hips between hers.
And then he was inside her, and Merlin, he'd missed this. Missed her. Wanking off in his bunk and imagining her face couldn't hold a candle to Lisa beneath him, her face flushed in pleasure and saying his name in that tone. Nine months, not knowing if he'd hear her name next on Potter Watch, unsure of what the next day would hold for any of them.
He'd taken her for granted while they were together. When he'd had the luxury of seeing her face in Herbology and Charms. He'd been an ass -- he freely admitted it.
Never again. They'd lost too much already.
