I'll admit that I didn't give this fic a try at the fest because I generally give any story with an infidelity warning a wide berth (just a squick) - however, when you reposted here, the link was sitting there on my flist and I got curious who these '/various men' are, so... *click*. :)

And I've got to say, this is an interesting little moral tale. It feels like it isn't pushing for sympathy for either Lily or Rosie. Rosie is a judgmental prude and almost unbearably naive, and it makes Lily seem the more honest of them, despite her fling with Scorpius. On the other hand, Lily is selfish and immature in her lack of will-power or sheer willingness to avoid choices that will hurt other women, and her talk about the double standard seems a bit like an excuse for her lack of responsibility. Of course the men she sleeps with are even worse! And her pondering if she is a 'slag' or 'whore' or 'harlot' shows that she is vulnerable to the double standard and those labels it slaps on women exclusively (if a man is called a slag, it's usually a

For one, thank you for taking a chance on something that is a squick for you. I don't enjoy infidelity, but when I picked the prompt out, there was no way she could have all the different pairings requested without there being some infidelity. As it turns out, there was a lot more than I'd originally planned on, but it was still interesting to work with.

I honestly didn't intend for it to be a moral tale, but that just goes to show how much this differed from what I thought I'd be writing (Halloween porn, duhr). I don't think there are any characters in here that are completely faultless. Rosie is judgmental-- but in a way, she's almost supremely naive about the way other people are. In my mind, she's almost sheltered because I think that her parents would have tried to give her as innocent an upbringing as possible (in comparison to their own). I think having sex is Lily Luna's way of not being her squeaky clean parents, and she has to justify that in her mind
