Very good list. It occurred to me that my top ten was very, very conservative, though I got a bit more adventurous in 11-20. Salvation is a damn good album, one of the best of the 00's. I've never heard of Baptism but I'll check them out.

"Salvation" was a last minute addition, knocking out Forgotten Woods. mostly because I couldn't decide between their two albums, but I really wanted them on there, but I realized I knew the songs on "Salvation" better than either of them. A couple other things got knocked out... Marduk "Those of the Unlight", for one... Ulver "Bergtatt" almost got on there, but I realized I didn't know it well enough...

I fucking LOVE that Baptism album. so underrated. as far as that "style" of bm, I don't know, whatever you want to call it... I guess most of those Finnish bands kinda play that way, anyway, they're the best.

I would probably of swapped Death Spell Omega with Dissection (or there abouts) and changed The Dimmu Borgir album to an earlier recording of theirs I found DET a little over done and cheesy.
I've never really listened to Satyricon so I'm going to do that now =)

a lot of it came down to how much I've actually listened to some of these albums over the years, so much so that I know them by heart n such. which is very much the case with Dissection and Dimmu. it was a hard call between EDT and Stormblast. but i really do love every fucking song on EDT, IMO that was their last good album, really, the high point. man, when that album first came out, everybody loved it, and then a little later everybody decided it was gay. i'll never understand... i still like it, but i do like Stormblast almost just as much.

NEVER LISTENED TO SATYRICON!?!?! OMFG GO NOW! hehe every fucking album is great, every album is different. the new one is the worst one. Frost is a fucking amazing drummer. it's all about "walk the path of sorrow" on Dark Medieval Times! get that shit!

Some might disagree with me on this, but every single Satyricon album is good. Even the Rammstein-esque new one, though probably their weakest, is still quite listenable.

Rammstein-esque?!?!? I totally disagree with that, but whatever. :P
It's just fuckin boring, IMO. but I don't even like Volcano as much as I did a few years ago...
