I hope you won't be offended when I say that the Starbucks musical selections seem designed to avoid offending anyone rather than be interesting. :P Particularly during the Christmas season, I think I'd have to wear ear plugs at work.
Unrelatedly, I need you to come to my restaurant and teach me how to make a decent espresso. Every time I do it, I end up with grit at the bottom. I could blame the equipment, but that would be too convenient.

I'm not offended; I consider that a trend in the corporate world. I've found some cool stuff through the music we play at work. But yes, in Christmas, ear plugs would be mandatory, if it didn't prevent us from hearing people's orders.
And I might be able to tell you how to make a decent espresso, depending on what kind of espresso machine you have. (By the way, you could buy a fully automated espresso machine at Starbucks! Only $1,000! Have your resturaunt pay for it! ;-)
The original coffeehouses had beatnik stuff. I think "Sinatra" probably comes closest to that, and I wouldn't mind listening to that, but I think REAL classic rock would be best. If it ever gets played on KRTH, you don't hear it in a real classic rock environment.
Tsk tsk. Coffeeshops have been around since, oh, about the Renaissance. Clearly, you didn't watch that Modern Marvels episode on coffee. Which you forced, FORCED me to watch. :-p
Anything to keep the hippies away. Dirty hippies...
Is it bad that I kinda like Metallica in a non-ironic way? Angry music is good while coding. I have a collection of Metallica, AC/DC, Guns 'n' Roses, etc. at work.
