Amusing town names

This country has some great town names.

Some of them stand on their own. I'd love to live in Pie Town, New Mexico or Bacon, Indiana, but I'd avoid Prison Farm, Montana. Remind me never to set foot in White Settlement, Texas or Dead Woman Crossing, Wyoming.

And then there's Nimrod, Oregon too. There's a few others as well, but I'd have to ask hubby, and he's asleep right now lol. Gotta love some of the names people came up with back in the day ^_~

I read about Boring, Oregon a few years ago in a magazine, but never did I think, nor did I ever dream, of such a litany of amusing names.

Why is "What Cheer, Iowa" listed under "The Avoidable"?

You can interpret it in two different ways.

1. "What cheer we have here! Yay!"
2. "Um...what cheer?"

I chose to interpret it the second way. It was more amusing.

New Mexico also has "Truth or Consequences" and "Weed."

My personal favorite bizarre town name is Bucksnort, Tennessee.
