Someday we oughtta meet at my folks' house in the 3rd weekend of September so we can go to the bluegrass festival in my hometown (The Walnut Valley Festival, one of the five largest in the country, IIRC). I miss hearing live bluegrass.
I'll teach you how to playy the flute...smjaymanJune 18 2005, 12:53:54 UTC
I got coerced into piano at a very young age. Just didn't care for it in the long run. Didn't help that my piano teacher picked THE most boring stuff for me to learn. Four years down the tubes...
Oh yeah, and don't EVEN get me started on the damn ballet and tap...

Ahahaha! You, too? I was strong-armed into ballet, too, because the neighbor girl was doing it. I was finally able to quit after 3 weeks. Damn waste of time.
My music is jazz or its sub-genres. More indepth, it's the rhythm or the drums which makes me love the music so much, and the melody steps in after that. I would really just like to learn all the cool, jazzy drum comps.
Dvorak rules! I've never played any "fiddle" songs though. Just classical orchestra and concertos. We should all find out who can play something and start our own bluegrass group!
whoa, that was weird! I was just looking at this Matisyahu site and was trying to figure out what the Jdub in Jdub records stood for. Then the MSN notification thingie said I got an LJ reply from Jdub. spooky!
There's a Dvorak cello solo I'm really keen on finding, but since I'm not so good with opus numbers, it's proving difficult.
Bluegrass definitely soothes and uplifts my soul. It's good stuff.
I (and I guess you, too!) missed an opportunity to see Ralph Stanley here last fall. :( Next time he comes anywhere within a 3-hour radius I'm going to go see him--I don't think he has many years left.
yup. His was my first bluegrass band I ever saw live... I didn't know about bluegrass fiddling until I saw James Price (big fat guy) playing for him. 4 months later, I had bought 3 fiddles.
