What to Wear to the Border Agency

Mar 10, 2010 06:35

The red-lined, black (faux) Chanel suit
The big, black slik rose pin
The my mother's pearls from WWII
and my grandmother's emerald ring,
my only inheritance,
worn to opacity
because she washed the dishes in it.

clothes, fashion, immigration

Sounds great. And I love the description- each item, I suspect, has quite a story.

Thanks-- sometimes I'm superstitious around clothing, etc. Some pieces just feel like they give you ancestral back-up!

I'm just the same; although I only have two items that belonged to any of my ancestors, it's nice to think of having their strength backing you up.

Are you having a cull?

Yes, there has been cullage! Did you actually read my journal? I couldn't tell.

I did yeah. I suppose it is difficult to tell who's reading what, but then I never really saw the point as culling as you're either culling people who read your journal, which presumably you're not looking to do, or culling people who won't be reading your journal anyway and hence won't notice they've been culled, making it a redundant exercise.

But, on the other side, you are allowed to do what you want with your own journal (unless Livejournal believes it infringes a copyright).
